  1. As I learned in the p/l thread, you are correct that many won't participate b/c they can't or won't. I posted daily blotters for a very long time in those threads and very few posted w/ me regularly. I'd say basically no one posted with the regularity that I was. And it got old posting by myself. I think I've said in a few threads that I will not be participating in the race. Personally, I think there is a fundamental flaw in a contest where the participants realize that the goal is very unrealistic. I don't plan my business this way, nor do I trade this way. I set realistic goals as this is my livelihood. It's not a game or just a fun little thing to do on the side as a hobby. So I'd ask that any comments directed to me entering the race stop b/c I will not be joining this particular version of the race.
  2. I've been doing a bit of hunting around recently for chat services that also have a screen share service with them and thought I'd post my findings here. Might save someone some time that is looking for the same thing. The key for me is the screen share part of the chat service. There's a big amount of IM services out there, but surprisingly not many have a screen share. Skype w/ Mikogo Add-On Currently this looks like the best option as Skype is free when calling another computer, includes chat and this free add-on gives you screen sharing. It looks like there is support in place and installing the add-on is quick and easy. I still have to test. Brosix w/ Mikogo Add-On I downloaded this one and like the look of it but not sure how to get Mikogo to work with it so there is screen sharing. Their site says that Mikogo will work with it, but there's zero instructions on how to do that. Trillian This one is pretty slick if you want bells and whistles. It does not have a true screen share but a screen capture instead and the screen capture is only part of the paid version. AIM Pro Awhile back I used AIM pro and was just planning to use this again. Problem is that it does not appear that AOL is supporting this anymore as all I could find were download links from non-AOL sites. Any link I found on an AOL branded site eventually redirected me back to the standard AIM, which does not have screen share. It's too bad b/c the AIM Pro was a nice program when I used it last and had what I needed. I did redownload from an old link and it does appear to work but I do not think there is any support for it. That's what I've found so far when looking at IM services that also have a screen share program with it. If you know of any others, please post here. There is other programs such as HotComm, Omnovia or WebEx that are available, but those are built for heavy duty presentations or regular screen sharing. I am just looking for a light program to do the occasional screen share.
  3. SnagIt. The best. I use it daily, multiple times per day. Highly recommend.
  4. I do care about statements that are eye appealing as well. See any decent stock brokerage for an example - accurate AND appealing to the eyes. Yes, it can have both. As for the commissions, should we assume in your professional capacity you are getting much better than 'piker' rates? If you want to take shots at these guys, then I suggest you enter the race so we can see what a pro pays. Otherwise, maybe you could keep your negative remarks to yourself, esp in this thread.
  5. You know what I noticed after seeing these statements? All futures brokers statements are terrible. Looks like they are done on a typewriter and look ugly... Why are they so behind the times in creating a decent looking account statement? Sorry... back to your regular scheduled program.
  6. There is a standard of what is out there right now. Standards can change over time, but there is a standard. We can continue to beat this topic to death or realize that OEC has revised their platform to better represent what is in line w/ other charting vendors.
  7. As has been stated a few times now macdfx, OEC is going w/ the industry standard on these upgrades. As I also have stated before, no matter what they do it will not please everyone and that you have alternatives out there.
  8. Sandy - welcome to the forum. From what I was told, production will get the upgrade that sim got this weekend assuming it has gone as planned this week. If there has been any hangups, I assume they will postpone taking it live till there is no issues.
  9. Thread cleanup will be begin shortly. Keep it on topic fellas. Thanks. FYI - I can only do a 'soft' delete so that's the best I can do w/ the mod status I have.
  10. OEC currently offers the entire suite - stocks, options, etf's, bonds, etc. And of course futures.
  11. http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/f30/how-post-chart-properly-805.html
  12. Great thread Frank. I do not pay nearly enough attention to this as I get wrapped up in my trading, so I hope you keep this thread going and give us some ideas to work with.
  13. Perhaps the issue was Sunday evening doldrums. Charts look fine here. On PROD - still use RANGE One SIM - use MOMENTUM if you want the previous version of range. Also, OEC has confirmed that my post here was correct.
  14. I do not trade for anyone's entertainment and will not be participating in this.
  15. That's odd b/c my 10 tick GCL chart looks fine.
  16. Good luck Thales, I will be a lurker. Sounds like a fun idea but I don't have time for that currently.
  17. I think I might know what's going on here... The most important thing here is that the 'old' way of how OEC displayed 'range' charts and calling them 'range' charts may not have been accurate. In actuality, OEC's 'range' charts were momentum charts, even though they were called range as there was no momentum setting available at the time. So if we just throw out all old ways of viewing the charts and how OEC referred to them, we see that the new software resembles what ensign for example uses: http://ensign.editme.com/rangebars Momentum Bars are basically constant range bars. The bars look like standard chart bars with an open, high, low, close and volume. The high-low range of each bar is constant. A new bar does not start until a price tick is received that would exceed the fixed range of the current bar. Momentum Bar charts have the following characteristics: * Each bar is the same height because the range is constant. * The close of a bar is always at the high or low of the bar. * The open of a bar is always one tick below or above the close of the preceding bar. * The time period covered by each bar varies. * All gaps are filled with inserted 'phantom' bars. Now, those using OEC would have easily called those range bars based on what we are used to. As I said previously, OEC is conforming their version of range and momentum to what is more standard. So IMO based on what I've read here tonight, I think that the momentum bars are what we would normally call range on the old version of OEC and that range bars are what we thought momentum would like look. I know... a little confusing. So here's the summary: 1) Throw out all previous interpretations you used on your OEC charts for range and/or momentum charts. 2) Momentum charts characteristics are listed above. If that's what you are looking for, use momentum. If you want the 'old' range charts, you will now use the 'new' momentum charts. This is of course assuming that I understand the implementation correctly. I will see if I can get OEC to confirm this or provide further clarification.
  18. Well if you had any real knowledge of the NFL draft you'd realize that it takes at least 2-3 years before we have an idea if the draft was good or not. McCoy in the 3rd was nice. On paper, it all looks good. Time will tell. PS I just hope McCoy doesn't turn into a serial 'dater' (and that's putting it nicely)...
  19. And how exactly have you tried to contact me? No PMs and that's the only option here. I will not be joining you guys in this. Have fun, will be an interested lurker.
  20. Post some screenshots b/c glancing at mine it looks fine here.
  21. Sim has been updated as of the close of business Friday (4-23-10). If all goes as planned, PROD will be updated next Friday (4-30-10). Just took a little patience, but we are getting there.
  22. No posts in all of April from the weekly analysis guy. He must be back to that special trader's calendar that some of us do not have access to.
  23. It's interesting you say avoid the first 2 hours and I try to be done by then. Beauty is in the eye's of the beholder but IMO to not trade when oil is really moving can be a detrimental rule to have in place.
