Ivo,

Been lurking here for years and trying to make this system work. Your points on volume are well taken, although I think for trading es, volume is critical for identifying the termination of moves. One problem which continues to plag me is the interpretation of volume as market moves say with data at 8:30 compared to overnight, and then again at the open of trading. Can't rely on it because everything is more or less reset. So I tend to stand aside. But it is frustrating, because I might have a real good grasp of what market is doing in the overnight, but seem to lose my bearings with these changes in pace related to the above mentioned times.

Any suggestions for dealing with this appreciated.

Another video. Just to illustrate how important it is to have the channels correct. If you don't have the channels correct you simply miss things because you don't look for them.

Is this real money trading?

I want to add that I use candlesticks instead of OHLC bars. So I place a lot more emphasis on the open and the close. (are we closing within the previous bar?). One tick can make a difference. Also I annotate 15 min bars. I only trade when those two line up (5 min and 15 min).

Maybe those two "tools" make up for not having volume in forex.

Ivo

I am wondering, from the subject matter of this thread, regarding Volume Precedes Price always, I am wondering if you have noticed this pattern of B2B 2R 2B etc... with dominant and non-dominant waves and if this has affected your trading strategy in any way.

EURUSD Trades of today. In the next hour or so I believe price is not going anywhere. We have price centering, tails on both sides and bars are getting shorter and shorter. These things together say "be careful: chop"!!

Hi Spydertrader;

I'm confused on how to follow threads. How do I best follow the sequence of your original post July, 5 2009?

I'd like to study and test your complete method before pepperingyou with questions.

If the video that you're referring to is in my torrent, this should still work:

http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/technical-analysis/6320-price-volume-relationship-50.html#post101538

You should be able to get just the ones that you want.

Thank you very much!

I have all of these...just did not recall that Str-Sq was discussed in them.:)

I was referring to some that are just about Str-Squ, by Spyder I think...but this should do .

no. see attached. p2 and p3 geen channel inside red channel

That Increasing Volume IBGS annotated by you as point 2 has no indication to hold through it. As it forms, YM turns increasing red PRV and finishes with increasing red. As your guru used to write: "Who wants to be long in the face of increasing red volume". That's where you and your guru would have been shaken off, if you or he actually traded instead of posting misleading charts. Can't believe that years gone by and some folks are still trying to decipher that nonsense.

still dead as a doornail.

Ok I'll make a revival attempt.

Who amongst the older hands here ever fully differentiated the Laterals? Seems like many people here participated in the Lat Drill and follow up. I went through the thread, starting page 141, and at page 196- two months later- it did not seem anybody had really gone to the bottom of it... am still reading. My motivation to start was the comment bySpyder that if you reached full differentiation, you would always know which direction a lat would exit to...obviously, a worthwhile goal. He insists that this is binary, exact....

Spyder divided the process into 3 parts: 1. Context, 2. Order of things, 3. The Thing itself (the Lat). He suggested to start differentiating "the thing itself" (the lateral), in the specific case of the Lat drill, he started with Sym lats. Now: I don't know if he did so in order to teach people the process of differentiation or if he did so because the Thing is actually important in itself... let me explain:

I started categorizing them (the Thing). Please see attached as an example, just 1 page (out of 8 or 9)...I ended up with at least 40 cases, probably more like 60.... there are Sym lats, Fbp and FTP Lat Formations, as well as Lat Movements, whose first bar can be Dom or Nondom, with increasing or decreasing volume, OB's or Ibgs's, with boundary bars on the dom, the nondom side or both, and these boundary bars can have increasing or decreasing volume etc....you get the idea.

My big conundrum is: How do I know which of the factors overwhelms which? If Context and The Order of Things is more important than the Thing, why did Spyder insist on differentiating the Thing first? And how do I know- when reviewing old charts- which of the factors caused Change or Continuation? Was it the Thing or the Context?

For Example, if you have a lat occurring at a fast Pt 2-3 (Order of things), I have observed it to resolve in the Dom direction in most cases, no matter if the boundary bars are on top or on bottom, if it is a sym lat or not, if the volume of the boundary bar is increasing or not...even a Lat Movement will do.

So- what is the point in differentiating "the thing", if it is all Context- or "Order of Things" dependent?

If anybody actually fully understands this, I would greatly appreciate any guidance! Perhaps you want to contact me by PM in order not to clog up the thread...we can chat on skype... or post here, I will publish the results of my research here when done...

TIA,

Vienna
