  1. Hmm, strange I can see her spinning clockwise for a long time and counter clockwise somewhen later, now it's all back to clockwise. Here's a related poll result with a large sample group. Edit: and back to counter clockwise again harhar
  2. I'm a lefty according to the test, but I voted right by accident. Maybe because lefty's show less concern for rules and regulations .
  3. thanks for all the examples! I found another wave trader by accident, wasn't even looking for wolfe. It's not the best page, but maybe one can pick up one or the other thing.
  4. Happy holidays to all, have a great new year.
  5. Checked their page and they charge an additional $20 a month for using market profile.
  6. The profiles are as far as I know, but you have to pay for the platform.
  7. You're right mezameo the fin-alg indicator looks like a sound investment, and we won't see anything like it for free for a long time, if ever. Too bad that some things Investor R/T can do are still impossible on NT.
  8. Yep it's great that someone is willing to share an indicator that prints the VAL, VAH and POC for NT. A better price/volume histogram would be even cooler, but it's awesome to have this one already. One caveat though, it's not calculated with tick volume but some sorta approximation, which might not make a huge difference, just mentioning it.
  9. If you know in which way the price will go in a single stock with a high probability, the way to make the most is of course with high leverage. Options are great for that, also limiting your loss. Another thing you could look at are CFDs, the problem with them though is that most CFD brokers are bucket shops and not playing fair. And even if you find a good broker, you still might make more money with options.
  10. Hi Paul, I like that article, thanks for sharing. Steenbarger's blog featured a simililar one today. Here's the link. I hope this is not the end of the series, thanks for sharing. I'll be leaving the trading wing for today now .
  11. There was a small bug, which increased taxes after the first year. capital_progression.zip
  12. Hi James, For windows you'd need to install perl but that would be a waste for just running my little script. I just use perl for quick hacks, can put something together very quickly. Cheers
  13. Hi, I wrote a small script to help me calculate capital progression, it's written in perl and has no user interface so most of you guys won't be able to use it. It's based on the idea that you know your average gain per contract per day. Number of contracts is determined by dividing your account balance by an minimum amount you require to have for a contract. Contracts will be added once you have enough capital. Monthly capital outtakes and taxes are also taken into account. It's very simplified and most winning trader's progression will not be as linear as this script assumes. Consistency is for many people a problem. For a low amount of contracts though it could be accurate if the input matches the reality. The results are kinda interesting, dunno though if all of the formulas are correct. Cheers capital_progression.zip
  14. Hi there, Had a look at opentick already? Maybe not the most reliable data provider and their support sucks. I asked a very simple question that could have been answered with little effort, yet they didn't. Their service is dirt cheap though. Good luck
  15. Imo it's not only about having troubles with discipline, sometimes the market might act a lot different to what you are used to and your setups fail. Just having a bad day can be a reason for draw downs for a successful trader. Blowing more than 10% of your capital e.g. on one day is really a waste, better get back to the drawing board earlier or just stay on the sidelines.

    hi

Thanks for your suggestions brownsfan, what about beyond candlesticks? Not as useful as the other ones?
  17. Hi, I thought of sharing this article with the community, it's about calling it quits if you hit your daily stop loss targets and not try to get back your losses. This can protect you from steep set backs. Cheers
  18. Maybe he was refering to the cumulative tick, which would make sense because he says it was below the 20 day average. I'm only guessing, I haven't looked at the TICK in a long time and didn't watch the market either. Edit: ok found it: The 1 min ticks were below the average of all 1 min ticks over the last 20 days on the FED day. The FOMC announcement was at 2:15pm so enough time for some market action. But I'm just rambling here, I don't have the kind of market insight you have.
  19. Hi, I've been recommended Lotus Brokerage and Cadent financial by dynamites But I can't say if they are any good because I haven't checked them out myself. Might give 'em a try somewhen though. Cheers
  20. Hi all, Hope this is not off topic. I just came across today's post in Steenbarger's blog who I suppose a lot of people read. He uses both up/down tick by looking at the NYSE TICK(although he misphrases it in my opinion) and bid/ask volume in market delta. Here's the link. Cheers
  21. Congratulations Walter, glad to have you with us! Such an occassion should be celebrated. Thanks for all the quality posts and keep 'em comin' Cheers mate.
  22. One thing you could do is hedging yourself with a dollar index futures contract. Who knows though if the dollar will really collapse, in that case there's a problem not only for the US. If that would really happen gold/precious metals/commodities would be a pretty good investment, dunno if paper gold would do it though. Another thing I got from CNN actually is buying foreign stocks/bonds, if you choose the right stocks/bonds, you'll earn some more money even if the dollar doesn't tank or regains some strength. Silver/gold was all the rage during the late 70's, early 80's but then came the commodities bear market and gold bottomed for a long long long time. Not an easy one, maybe I'll come up with something once I have something to protect . I don't believe in the worst case scenario, I'm thinking its hype.
  23. Taz, they're two different things. About the russian thing, in the best case your program will display russian error messages if there is a problem , in the worst who knows what. nastrovje
  24. Wow that was excellent Taz :thumbs up::thumbs up:, of course the other contributions too. Thanks a lot for that.
