  1. Ninjatrader stores data in a database, the mdac is for interfacing with that database. If you don't want to go through the whole process you can find the file on one of the ftp mirrors here, i'd suggest the edu. Of course files from unoffical sources might contain viruses and maybe it's not even what you are looking for. The MS genuine advantage is some sort of anti piracy thing, I've never used it myself. Hope you'll solve your problems this way.
  2. It's true that NT is not rock solid but I've had NT 6.5 running for several days gathering data without any problems. There are some minor glitches(I'm using the beta right now) but nothing serious. Where it shines are the charts they look really good, supports a lot of data feeds and brokers(only QT has more imo) and the programming capabilities are awesome. Ninjatrader is one of the best among the free charting platforms, and is just lacking a few features that I'd love to have (multiple timeframe/instrument indicators/charts).
  3. It was a false break of a range, took out the last high by 6 ticks.
  4. How about this one, it's not exactly out of the book. Thanks for all your help waveslider.
  5. Taz, I wouldn't know why it's all free except if you use it for trading with a broker. Maybe they make enough money this way or are accepting losses to establish a big enough market share and then introduce fees. But as far as I know they have been around for a couple of years, so I wouldn't worry. .Net is MS's answer to Java, it's fine imo and any developer can choose to take it or leave it.
  6. .Net isn't really a program but a framework providing all the means for data manipulation, drawing, etc. etc. It's getting more and more common and isn't all that bad. MS .Net 2.0 should appear in your installed software list if you have it. I don't believe the installation would work without it, but it's the only thing I can think of atm. Support at the ninjatrader board should be much better.
  7. Thanks for your comments waveslider, I've practiced a bit and find it more easy to spot the pattern already. I think the one starting at 14:29 on the same chart was valid though. Looking for expanding wedges/triangles helps a lot. Reminds me a bit of NQoos wedge setup but it is not the same.
  8. Here's how the export works in camtasia 3, swf, avi should be fine.
  9. Hi, I wonder if this one qualifies too as a valid pattern, it's less than perfect and long drawn out. Thanks
  10. You're right, thanks for clearing things up. That'd put em in the same league as dukascopy commissions wise with half of the minimum initial balance requirement. Looks like another option.
  11. Hi Tasuki, Doesn't look like anything easy to fix, unless you haven't .Net 2.0 installed. Go to http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/vb the support is usally really good. Cheers
  12. ey notouch, the figures are correct, the application/calculation might not be. I'd be happy to be wrong. IB Coms
  13. Thanks Sebastian, I've uploaded the file as an swf, suppose not everybody has camtasia here.
  14. Hi Hlm, thanks for the info, sadly there aren't many real alternatives to EFX/MB FX. You're right about the scalping, setups really need to be very good otherwise there's no way to make a profit in FX.
  15. Hi guys, Just got this pattern on cable, hope it's not all wrong. Really nice stuff, thanks a lot.
  16. IB hasn't got cheaper comissions than MB FX as far as I can tell. They charge normal retail traders 1 basis point * trade value in comissions ( e.g. 100k USD * 0.0001 = 10USD ). If you trade a lot you can get it down to a tenth of that, but that'd require a bunch of money. Besides their reviews are worse than the others, mostly because of their support.
  17. If you can post a good link I'd be very glad. Thanks for reminding me of IB, i forgot to mention them, but dunno how they compare to the others.
  18. I did a bit of research, read a couple of reviews at forexpeacearmy and currencysecrets. I suppose both hotspot and dukascopy are good brokers with pros and cons respectively but would have to find out myself by trying their demo accounts to get the complete picture. I am just exploring my options here, I'll stay with MB FX for some time for sure until I've got enough experience paper trading. For scalping though commissions, spreads and slippage can make or break a system. Hope you're all enjoy your vacation, see you next year.
  19. Unicorn, It was an initialization related issue, but as far as I know only appeared when using strategies(?). For details look here. Cheers
  20. Hi zoltran, Thanks for posting, hope your strategies yielded some nice results . Cheers
  21. Hi Guys, I'm at the moment with MB Trading FX which is a nice broker. I'd like to get a better broker though because commissions aren't exactly cheap at 10USD per 100k lot per round trip compared to what is being offered on futures. Someone I knew got them down to 8, and there are some people out there who claim to be able to get you a 25% refund, but in a way that I don't like. Other than that I am very happy with MB FX. The only alternative of non dealing desk brokers seem to be Hotspot FX(6USD) and Dukascopy(max 4USD). Of course spreads, slippage and execution platform are also vital, unfortunately I have no idea how they compare in that respect. OANDA seems to be ok too, they're not on top of my list though. It would be great if someone could share their experience. Cheers
  22. Hi Walter, Great videos once again :thumbs up:, I like that kind of setups. Although the concept is simple, I am sure it takes quite some skill to become a master scalper like you. Combining tape reading with price action could improve the setup a bit. Thanks for sharing. nycdweller: I believe you are out of luck with ADXVMA for ensign, I haven't seen one so far. Cheers
  23. A few things could be improved: - Make fib levels configurable - Only print values in the table with confluence instead of using colors But I've lost interest and have a few other projects that'd pay off better.
  24. zdo, it was my first and only real app in C#. I dunno VisualStudio(still on 2003 atm) that well yet, couldn't really find an export function for projects, that's why I zipped the whole thing. Hope you can get it to work if you're interested. Btw the program runs out of colors for signaling confluence if there are a lot, never bothered to correct it. Cheers FibonacciClusterSrc_v09.zip
