Binary Options

Recommended Posts

I know there was a little discussion of binary options a while back but that thread seems to have died out. I keep getting more and more info on these products every week. Is anyone trading binary options at this point? I have looked into them in the past but never done anything with them.

There are so many products out there today that it's difficult to keep up with everything. At the same time I'm always open to new ideas. If anyone has had good success with these products let me know. Brokers, products, times of day to trade, etc.

From what I've seen so far, binary options trading web sites look not different than gambling sites...then it makes you think "the house always wins"

Forgive my ignorance, because I am certainly not well versed in the matter, but isn't simply buying a put or call already binary in nature? You either collect a profit or give up your premium. Profit or nothing.

Right?

maybe Im missing something? but the binary options outfits seem to be nothing more than a scam, why do I believe that? you can only win 70-90%, you might say thats good, allmost 100%?? yea but hold on a sec, it's up to 90% of the amount you invested, that will give you a risk to reward ratio under 1:1, if you know something about that you might know that 1:1 is brake even, and 90% is UNDER that! so how is it possible to beat that I wonder? first you must have a very good win ratio, not even 50 % is enough here, probably something over 60% will set you at brakeven and any winratio above that would make you a tiny winner, to make anything substantial you are going to need a incredible win ratio. I would guess close to 80%, most pro traders don't even have that kind of win ratios, I could be wrong but this just doesn't look possible, better to trade real options in my opinion.

Traditonal Options are just as risky as Binary options. As long as you do your research and pick your spots then binary options has some advantages.. You get to choose when your option expires.. Just be ahead of where you started and u win.. Easy enough for me. Ive been on optionmint for the last year and have def had success trading binary options.. i wait for news breaks on one of the assets and pull the trigger. Everythings a risk in this world.. anybody who knows of a sure thing in the finance world please let me know

Hello,

Looking for a trading platform, that runs locally off the computer via a software package. Everything we have come across is web-based and runs via java and flash. The site locks up constantly, and we lose trades. We are trying to trade large amounts of cash in 1 minute on binary options. Anyone know of a trading platform similar to a Forfex?

Thanks for your valuable posts

Right?

Ohh Yea.!!!!!!....

Tired of quoting all similar threads. So this post is for all who think binary options or any trading market (except spread betting or others where government says it is gambling) is gambling. Do you think anything falling in the category of "Put/Call" or "Profit/Loss" is gambling??? I agree with all of u at one point that binary options trading websites look similar to gambling websites. I am strongly against the claims made by those websites. Does it make binary options gambling?

All business have their profit/loss accounts. I cannot think of any third thing between profit and loss (dun joke with zero now. plz). Even Gambling business have Profits and Losses and nothing else.

So what makes Gambling different from other businesses? Put/Call is not a definition of gambling.

There can be a very long debate of gambling vs non-gambling businesses and sometimes the line between them is very thin. But there is a way, for us at least, to be sure about what is gambling and what is not.

Our expertise in this field is not to a level where Government and other big economic institutions are. If they do not consider it gambling then why u?

Another thing. Trading is based on analysis. If u r trading without analyzing then U r gambling in this business.

Definitely check out this video before going further with Binary Options. It discusses a Forbes.com article which equates Binary Option trading to gambling.

I'm sorry to be the witch in church here but binary options trading IS gambling. And I don't mean gambling in the way that many people accuse all trading of being gambling (me not being one of these people). Binary options trading is gambling for the following reasons.

1. The broker you trade with, regulated or not, IS the house. They do not have liquidity providers, they do not forward your trade onto the real markets or onto an exchange or anything like that. Which basically means that if you win, they lose. Simple as that. That's pretty much how a casino works right? And with such a glaring conflict of interest do you really think that the rest of their practices are completely above board?

2. They say you only have to correctly forecast an up or down movement, right? Well this is wrong. You have to correctly predict whether the price will rise or fall, yes, but also the window of time that this will take place in. Thismakes it much much harder to win. In Forex you choose when to close the trade, in binary options you have to agree to close the trade at a preset time. (Don't argue with this, I know they offer you other options too, but these are pretty inflexible and never seem to be available when you need them.)

3. Their focus on bonuses makes them much more like online gambling venues than anything else. The idea being to get you hooked on the bonus and then to not permit you to withdraw your funds with all sorts of unfair trading volume requirements that need to be met before you can make any withdrawals.

This is just the tip of the iceberg people. Do your research. Last weekend while browsing for evidence I can across this series of articles:

The Great Binary Options Scam Part One: Full Disclosure

...which I found pretty interesting. Have a look for yourselves and keep an open mind.

There are transparent, safe and fair trading options out there people, but binary options isn't one of them.

hi there,

while I do agree with the general lines there that binary options are somehow missleading, it is worth noting that they have a big advantage: gets the trader to be disciplined.......you cannot exit after you bought a call or a put, except at the expiration date.....and this makes you take the time element into consideration and this is one of the most difficult things to do when trading.........and if you fail on binaries, then you most likely are going to fail on your trading too as binaries, through their expiries dates, basically gets you out of a possible loosing position (that is the stop loss) and you are not tempted to keep the losses run as the trade is automatically done.

Yessir. I trade with nadex. Best place for binary options. And like you, I wish there were more people discussing binary options here. Are you still trading?

    • Date: 23rd May 2024. NVIDIA Surpasses Earnings Expectations, Fed Considers Another Rate Hike. FOMC Meeting Minutes confirms certain members believe the current monetary policy may not be “adequately restrictive”. The US stock market depreciated after the Meeting Minutes. However, investors quickly bought shares after NVIDIA’s Quarterly Earnings Report. The US Stock Market on average rose 0.50% after the Meeting Minutes. NVIDIA’s Earnings Per Share rose from $5.16 to $6.12 and Revenue rose 15% in the first quarter of 2024. Yesterday the US Dollar Index rose up to 0.32% and shot upwards 0.15% in the 30-minutes after the Fed release. USA100 – NVIDIA’s Earnings Increase Sentiment And The NASDAQ To An All-Time High! On Wednesday, the NASDAQ spent most of the day witnessing intraday declines which gained momentum after the Fed Minutes. After the Federal Reserve Meeting Minutes, the NASDAQ was trading 0.69% lower and the SNP500 0.74% lower. The decline was a result of the ultra-hawkish comments within the Federal Open Market Committee regarding monetary policy and inflation. However, as the price fell to $18,619.54, the price thereafter surged more than 1.50% within the next 8-hours. The change in trend is a result of the positive Quarterly Earnings Report from NVIDIA. NVIDIA’s Earnings Per Share rose from $5.16 to $6.12 and Revenue rose 15% in the first quarter of 2024. Shareholders held onto their shares while buy orders rose triggering a much higher price. In addition to this, NVIDIA’s director’s speech expressed confidence in earnings and the upcoming quarters. NVIDIA’s management also compared their success to the industrial revolution. As a result, NVIDIA’s stock rose more than 6.00% after market close and is now trading above $1,000. In addition to this, the comments and earnings data had a positive effect on investor sentiment in the broader stock market, but particularly for semiconductors and chipmaking companies. For example, AMD’s stocks rose almost 2.00% and Applied Material Stocks rose 1.75% after NVIDIA’s earnings report. Due to the volatility the price of the index is obtaining primarily “buy” signals from indications and technical analysis in general. The price has also become “overbought” on the RSI on some timeframes but remains within a buy signal and not overbought on intraday timeframes. Though investors should note that the Fed’s Meeting Minutes does bear risk for the index. This will be expanded on below.   EURUSD – The US Dollar Rises As Fed Members Play With The Thought Of Another Rate Hike! The EURUSD is trading within an upward facing corrective swing measuring 0.14%. The bullish price movement is currently only forming a retracement pattern as the EURUSD exchange rate has been trading within a bearish trend for 5 days but gained momentum yesterday due to the US Meeting Minutes. According to the Meeting Minutes, certain officials believe the policy requires a 25-basis points hike to achieve the 2% target. In addition to this, even the members which are known to be more dovish were troubled by the rise in inflation. Economists continue to believe the Federal Reserve is unlikely to increase rates despite the recent comments. There is a 49% possibility of a rate cut in September according to the CME FedWatch Tool. However, 13.00% of the market believe there will be no cuts at all in 2024. The hawkish comments regarding higher interest rates are positive for the US Dollar and have triggered various sell signals for the EURUSD. However, investors should also note that a hawkish Fed can also significantly pressure the stock market. Currently, economists are battling amongst each other over whether the higher earnings or the hawkish Fed will be the main price driver. Currently, the higher earnings data is winning, but this may not be the case if inflation does not decline this month. In terms of the Euro, the latest price driver is the European PMI data for Germany and France. German PMI beat expectations while French data saw a mixed reaction. Investors will now turn their attention to the US data later in this afternoon. Always trade with strict risk management. Your capital is the single most important aspect of your trading business.
