Volume Weighed Color Bars

If you subscribe to the school of thought that Volume is a Leading Indicator of Price...

this indicator is for you.

The price bar will widen when the volume is higher than previous bar,

and narrow when less than previous bar.

What a great way of doing this equivolume stuff. Any ideas to take it one step further by using different thicknesses as volume keeps on increasing. Maybe just 1 or 2 different extra thicknesses???

Can you code this in Easy Language or an ELD for Tradestation? Thanks.

it is time to invest 5 minutes on your TradeStation User's Manual.

Sorry Tams, I work and go to school full time, and have a family. If you don't have an answer besides a sarcastic one, maybe someone who knows EL and has the time to help not only me, but lots of other people who use TS and have trouble coding in the wrongly named Easy Language, possibly 50-100 members of Traders Laboratory who would be very interested and thankful that someone could post the code for Tradestation. Thanks again for the free sarcasm and not trying to help.

You sure do sound busy, but yet you have enough time to give Tams some grief. He simply suggested that you learn to help yourself. I find it funny that you have an attitude with Tams and he is here giving away free indicators. Guess the old saying is true, give someone an inch and they want to take a foot.

Tams,

A lot of people, including myself, are very thankful for your FREE help.

You are both right, kind of. Tams has spent a lot of time contributing to the EL indicators and he probably expects users to have a rudimentary knowledge of the platform they are using. There are however, traders who don't really care about anything other than applying some indicator that they think might work.

I think Tams is only using Multicharts, so he is not able to provide an ELD (which only TS can create, but MC can usually read). However a TS user can create an ELD easily by clicking on the EasyLanguage icon on the left tool bar of TS and choose new EL document, paintbar, and then copy and paste the text code included above into the editor window and the press F3 to verify the code.

If one can't be bothered with that, then perhaps the attached eld (TS version 8.3 for compatibility) might help.

Those interested in this indicator might just want to download a similar indicator BlueRay created for TS about 9 months ago, an ELD called tradeflow, similar to that of the original from the CQG platform :

Thanks thrunner, for posting the ELD. Now I have to run off to work, and work all weekend, go to school and study a lot of the rest of the time not working, and want to have time for my family as much as possible as well. It is possible that Tams response seemed rude and sarcastic to me, could have just not answered if he didn't know, but I apologize for also being rude back. Sorry Tams, I shouldn't have replied so abruptly, I do appreciate the free indicators, just didn't expect your response and was incorrectly rude in return.

Perhaps you where unaware that as Multicharts also uses easy language it is (usually) a simple cut and paste of the text into Tradestation. I guess this could be mis-construed as extreme laziness rather than just being pressed from time.

Ok, this is completely off topic here, but if you are really so busy that you don't have 5 minutes to create an indicator yourself, then you should ask yourself if trading is really for you? Trading is much more than plugging a free indicator from the internet on your chart and you will need many, many hours a day learning the profession. If you want to be a professional golfer, getting a free set of clubs from your buddy at work is not going to make you a professional golfer. Only the hours and hours of practising will.

      Hello traders,
I am interested in order flow trading and I will post some trades and predictions, some articles and ideology of a bit different understanding how price moves and why. May be this forum will be the right place. So, for the start I have  couple of charts of recent trade on oil. Also I did some comparison of two different software. Would be great to meet some traders who use order flow too. Lets see. I have a lots ideas and strategies to share. I don't use any traditional indicators, because just numbers are important for me.

    • Date: 3rd June 2024. OPEC+ Announces Gradually Higher Supply and NVIDIA a New Accelerator.     Oil declines as the European Cash Open edges closer. Oil prices have fallen for 4 consecutive days measuring almost 4.00%. OPEC+ members advise the group will have the option to not continue voluntary cuts from September onwards. All US and global indices start Monday’s trading higher after a poor end to May 2024. The bullish price gap illustrates a potential “risk-on” market. NVIDIA announces its next generation of accelerator chips and promises annual upgrades. NVIDIA stocks are already trading 0.55% higher in pre-trading hours. USOil (Crude Oil) – Voluntary Cuts May Gradually Fade! The price of Crude Oil fell almost 4.00% in the last 3 days of last week due to the OPEC+ meeting. The meeting is now at an end and journalists are pointing out 2 key points. The first, is that the OPEC+ group will keep limitations on production as it has since COVID-19. The second, is that countries which have voluntarily added additional cuts will have the option to reduce these cuts from September onwards. According to analysts, the market should not necessarily “overreact”, because if OPEC+ increases supply, it will only be gradual. Additionally, analysts also advise the group will only look to re-introduce production if the market conditions allow it to. Nonetheless, traditionally, additional supply is known by analysts to apply downward pressure on commodities. This is something which can also be seen over the past week, but investors will be keen to see the price drop below the support level.   The support level has been a key psychological level for investors throughout the month of May, specifically on 3 occasions. The price is currently trading below the 50.00 on the RSI and below most longer-term Moving Averages. If the price declines below the 65.00 Fibonacci level at $76.70 per Barrel, momentum will signal possible further decline. USA100 – NVIDIA Announces a New Accelerator Chip! The NASDAQ struggled within the previous week and at one point was down more than 3.00%. However, a large surge of buyers towards the end of Friday’s session saw a strong rebound and the index also trades higher during today’s Asian session. The NASDAQ is currently being influenced by 3 factors. However, investors will also give importance to the pricing of rate adjustments after the US employment data. The first factor prompting investors to increase tech-stock exposure is NVIDIA. The CEO of the company has again advised the technology and AI market will continue to grow and become more aggressive. In addition to this, Mr Huang advised NVIDIA is releasing a new accelerator chip and promises more within the upcoming year. A second positive factor for not only the NASDAQ, but global indices, is most analysts believe the European Central Bank will lower interest rates for the first time in the current cycle. If more global banks decide to reduce the restrictiveness of their monetary policy, stocks will become more attractive. However, only if the move is not a response to potential economic contraction. Lastly investors are also taking advantage of the lower entry point and feel an improved sentiment as Oil prices are declining. Investors hope lower oil prices will apply less upward pressure on inflation.   If the price rises above $18,638.83 the price will form a bullish breakout pattern which indicates upward movement. However, for a stronger and longer-term bullish trend, investors will be keen for the price to increase above the 75-Bar EMA and 100-Bar SMA. These two moving averages are currently priced at $18,658.28 and $18,733.30. Always trade with strict risk management. Your capital is the single most important aspect of your trading business.
