Stock Screening for Swing Trading ... Basic Criteria

Recommended Posts

Total noob. Don't know where to start. I'm not doing anything until I learn at least a few things.

So, when I'm screening stocks for swing trading, what would be your most fundamental criteria to find a stock. i.e what would be your first two or three basic filter settings be?

[obviously price is one since I don't want to be mucking about with $100 stocks.]

There's 1.73 gazillion ways to chart/screen, and 53.65 gagillian strategies, etc. I'm just looking for a few basic priorities/filter settings so I can start a few charts (looking at charts isn't as good as making charts.)

I'm assuming that you or anyone who read this thread is aware of technical indicators and is in a dilemma on which one to start with. I'd suggest beginning with Relative Strength Index. Here's a neat article on how you can combine it with other popular indicators and make the most out of it.
