  1. One more ignorant question, do we have to wait for one hour candle to close to trigger the signal ? or we can take the signal as the hourly candle is in the process of forming and also crosses one of those horizontal lines ?
  2. No, Opentick is independent. Unfortunately I heard that they longer accept new accounts.
  3. Square of Nine ? Or is square root the secret sauce ? In a paper Albert Einstein published in 1905 called Brownian Motion, he found that a particle suspended in a liquid tend to move randomly and that the total range of the particle's movements would expand according to the square root of time. Similarly, the brightness of a star diminishes in proportion to the square root of one's distance from the star and the influence of gravity diminishes according to the square root of the distance from the gravitational object.
  4. Bottomline, what futures broker you use is not that crucial. As long as they are either a FCM or introducing broker for a FCM, you funds will be insured by the US government up to, I believe, $100,000. Ninjatrader with Zenfire may be fast. If you can't trade, it is not going to help you. On the other hand, if you can trade, a fraction of a second lag won't make a difference, even in scalping. again I am talking about instruments with plenty of volume.
  5. I have posted this link several times before, here it is again: http://www.trading-naked.com/Articles_and_Reprints.htm Enjoy
  6. Actually, I was just kidding about day traders at IB can't trade. ( It is the holidays, I am in my sarcastic mood). This is my theory. As someone who was formerly licensed series 7 with NASD (National Assoc. of Securities Dealers) and Series 3 with NFA(National Futures Assoc.). I can tell you a big concern of the regulatory bodies is client's suitability, another word a client must meet certain income and net worth requirement before they are allowed to speculate. IB was one of the pioneers in online trading where almost anyone can open a futures account online. It is my suspicion that they probably got audited, and many accounts were found unsuitable. This is the reason I believe they are now extra stringent. Surely they can't be so stupid and not knowing that they are losing tons of business by having intraday margin at $6000+ per contract while other competent brokers have their intraday margin at merely $500 per contract. Hmm.. on the other hand, I could be wrong.
  7. Obviously these day traders at IB are losing their shirts. That is why IB currently set their intraday margin for ES at $6188 and YM at $6875 per single contract.
  8. Thanks Blowfish, but most people here would find this stuff too "controversial".
  9. One of John Carter's most well-known techniques was using the Daily Pivots, for instance, by placing an order to buy at S1 and place a stop under S2, or short R1 and place stop above R2. I hope that is not what you are talking about.
  10. (1) Once inside a trendy move, sometimes the currencies have very shallow pullbacks compared to equities. Another word, they can be very over-sold and stayed very over-sold for an extended period of time. (2) On a micro time frame, lets say on a one minute chart or 15 seconds chart, the currency price action can be very erratic. (3) Because there is no centralized exchange for the Forex, as far as I understand, there is no actual volume information or tickcharts
  11. I found this post on "Re: Jay's Journal" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Topic Of The Month October, 2008"
  12. If you had to ask that question, and even if you can find one, I would'nt trade it because either the spread would be like the grand cayon, or you have to trade against the dealing desk like the forex market. But it is a good idea though.
  13. Although there are bits of useful trading ideas in this book. my previous suspicion of this book being nothing more than a promo piece for his more expensive paid services can be substantiated by one of his most recent webinar entitled : " How to become the top 1% of all internet marketers', or something to that effect.
  14. I think Andrew said there is a 80% chance of reaching the median line, if I remember correctly. But Tim did say that a Median Line of a positive slope has a much better chance of stopping downward movement than one with a negative slope.
  15. No, the inverted Cup and Handle is a continuation pattern in this case and it would break the lower parallel line and head south. Often this will coincide with Walter's 14 period CCI crossing or double crossing the 50 line.
  16. Many times this pattern would fail, then it becomes an inverted cup and handle
  17. Through this crucial weekend where they are trying to finalize the rescue plan, I don't hear them mentioning this point anymore. I guess they realized this was a silly idea to begin with, because all the business would simply move oversea.

    ES Limit Up?

Steve46, No offense here. You may well have the right ideas here, but did you ever take Economics 101 in college, because you have a funny way of explaining things.

    ES Limit Up?

We may be weak, but we are not dumb. Steve 46, go back to trading. :crap:

    Harmonics

Check out this post I made back in 1-21-2008: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/2/recession-exposure-3230-2.html It is interesting looking back on it now. I was trying to identify Harmonic pattern and price and time symmetry in the Dow. And I was probably the first person on this forum who mentioned the two unfamiliar words back then: "Derivative Meltdown". It is a little scary to have something that was somewhat theoretical to become a full-blown reality in a matter of a few month. On the other hand, none of this matters as a trader/scalper that I am now. Every day, every hour and every second, I have or try to have no opinions. Zilch. Nada. I enjoy my soundful sleep every night and even take occasional naps during the day. :o

    Harmonics

I gave you a link, "trade what you see", much earlier in this thread. There is some very good stuff in there. But you brushed it off as being too ordinary,

I have a lot more tips if you promise to keep them off your next book.
  23. Believe it or not. Price action around 5-min and 15-min 20EMA and the Bollinger Band during early hours can be your clue to whether or we may have a Trend Day.

    Harmonics

My second question is whether the overbalance and underbalance concept in regard to symmetry as practiced by Robert Miner, Bryce Gilmore, etc, can be applied to Fib specific Harmonic patterns ?
