  1. Re the text on that image: This may seem obvious, but if that kind of thing is happening time and time again, there is something wrong with your entry parameters.
  2. VWAP = volume weighted average price DVAH = developing value area high HOD = high of day LOD = low of day MPers = Market Profilers When you list the points like that, it's generally per contract.
  3. I have no idea how to read that chart. Looks like it suggests a long entry, since all the lines are pointing up?
  4. In my experience the choppiness can accompany expiration, or sometimes it doesn't, just like anything else in the markets. Just because the two aren't always found together does not mean that expiration can't cause the chop. It seems to me it would depend on how the large holders of front month options are positioned relative to the price of the underlying, along with many other factors.
  5. Options expire once a month generally speaking. In the case of the Kospi 200 options, I believe they expire once per month, and there are 4 contracts trading at once, (current month + next 3 consecutive months).
  6. If you're asking whether or not you get lower commissions for trading more volume, the answer is yes.
  7. I have to say, as I progress in my trading career, I pick up something new every time I watch Wall Street. It's surprising how much truth and good info is hidden in that movie.
  8. You could look into the 6E, $12.5 tick size.
  9. If you get no setups during that morning session (maybe this never happens when you're watching multiple instruments, I have no way of knowing), would you rather take it as a flat day or trade into the afternoon?
  10. Thanks for sharing. I've never traded spot currency (or currency futures for that matter), but I know this issue is subject to much debate on many forums. But just to play devil's advocate here, couldn't you trade spot through an ECN to avoid this kind of thing?
  11. Well that's the last time I take my neighbor's auto mechanic's advice. I really thought I had a sure thing there.
  12. I'd sell the S&P 500...My neighbor's auto mechanic said that's a bad stock. And trust me on this, my neighbor's auto mechanic knows the CEO of S&P 500 (whatever that company does), so I think he would know what he's talking about. I mean that's just my friend's advice though...I wouldn't want to get in trouble for insider trading or anything. Because this guy is obviously an insider. And he's obviously had great success making trades based on info from his CEO acquaintance...being an auto mechanic and all.

Thanks ben, I'll check those out when there's a lull today.

    Floor Traders

Thanks BF, I knew that about the squawk services since I've done research on them to a certain extent, but I didn't know about anything else you mentioned.

    Floor Traders

I've had the following questions regarding floor trading for a while now: 1. In the case of index futures, do the floor traders trade the full sized contracts? I'm guessing they can't trade the e-minis since I thought they were supposed to be fully electronic through Globex only. Either way, do we as screen traders (retail or institutional), have access to floor trade data? That is, if a floor trader makes a trade, would a screen trader be able to see it on T&S? When would it show up (I'm guessing there would be significant delay)? Does the price action on the floor have an effect on the price of the instruments we screen traders have access to? Or is it like the floor is its won market, and retail is different? I am asking about floors with a pit specifically, because I think exchanges like the NYSE don't have pits where trading takes place. 2. I realized I included all of my questions in #1. Thanks!
  16. So is that $3.30/RT then, or $4.60/RT ($2 + ($1.30*2 sides))?
  17. $2/RT? What kind of volume are you doing?
  18. I think he's just trying to run multiple monitors.
  19. I advise against doing this as 3 PCI cards will be inefficient, hot, and constricting. You could easily have one PCI-E or AGP card serve the same purpose.
  20. No, you can use more than one card in a machine without using Crossfire or SLI, but you can't use them both on one monitor without Crossfire or SLI. If you wanted to use 4 monitors, you could have 2 plugged into each card (if you were using 2 cards), but you should be able to run 4 monitors from one card unless you're doing some kind of 3D charting or something.
  21. So you're basically saying that positive expectancy is important?
  22. This is a new idea to me, and I have a couple questions: 1. How large of an account are we talking, roughly? 2. Why are the commissions lower? Because they're doing more volume due to the larger accounts? How much lower are the commissions, roughly? Thanks.
  23. You should not be trading live right now. You can trade on a sim, but DO NOT use real money. I repeat: NO TRADING FOR YOU until you're sure the people who depend on you won't be affected by your mistakes. There are loads of traders who would love to take that remaining $42,000 from you, including myself, but I don't think that would be fair to your kids. Keep that in mind.
  24. Interesting. I have had ideas similar to these for use with volume bars, but I don't have the skills to implement them. Thanks for sharing guys.
  25. My experience with Mirus and Zen is similar to XDTrader's, and another one you should probably check out is Open E Cry. I have no first hand experience with them, but I see them get recommended all the time, so they're at least worth a look.
