  1. Instead or working with multiple time frames perhaps you can use three macd indis with settings to reflect three time frames
  2. I am sure you can code this in TS or any of the other packages.
  3. Thales She is giving us all a lesson in money management....... she may intuitively know what is best. I quite admire her and her dad for her progress...
  4. I use Oanda and a couple Metatrader demos...... Oanda seems to treat me fairly well and I like to have the added resources of the Metatrader demos, particularly as they provide prices on many different instruments.
  5. My idea is that the price is telling you not to buy... but to research until you find an indicator in your platform that will suffice the same purpose.
  6. I think its great that she seems to be in tune with price at her age.....(and I well understand your concerns re posting) I know that she has probably received some advice from her Dad, but I have an idea that she may be on her own for decision time...... I quite admire that you have exposed her to the markets..!
  7. I will be interested to see your daughter start to post, I am sure her thread will be of great interest as she starts to show up the experienced traders......
  8. I quite agree...... the faster time frames can spell disaster for even the most experienced traders..... The 240 minute chart will allow time for detailed analysis and then entry can be made on a faster chart such as 60 minutes.... Too often we get to thinking that a fast chart will yield easy money quickly and the result is often the opposite. This I have learned and relearned several times from experience......
  9. I could have listed a few items that I regard as defects in the charting..... I am almost sure that your Omnitrader will be quite suitable, especially as it will have a better selection of indicators and a better chart display...... Best of luck with your trades.....!
  10. Part two of the manual has a lot of good information.
  11. You may find in the backtesting and automated systems areas of this forum people who have used both..... Just a hunch.
  12. I don't rely solely on candles, however, they do present a visual of what may be happening and from my brief experience they are a great tool for detecting a change in direction.
  13. BGtrader Please elaborate on Urma's software and group thanks dave
  14. I read in the Tushar Chande book that to increase the variables over a set few would lead to a lot of difficulty, I quite agree with the idea of simplicity
  15. Finam has some excellent free data although US Stocks may not be available....it does have some indices and forex Also........depending on the data format you require..... you can look on the ensignsoftware site, there is quite a bit of data there
  16. My feeling is that for what it provides it could be viewed as a bit pricey...... there are some great signals....... and the emphasis on risk to reward is most helpful.. I still have a feeling that it is pricey. As a olatform I feel that it restricts a trader to EW type of trading whereas another platform will allow you to do a lot more. Just an opinion.. I will be interested to see what others have to say.
  17. Thanks for that.. I am new to mechanical trading, am trying to get a feel for what the reality may be..... Thanks again
  18. You would probably get a good and complete answer if you were to post the question in the 'smf_addin' group in yahoogroups. They seem to have great expertise in getting info from the web for excel.
  19. I am wondering if the systems have regular small losses or do they lose for a period of time, causing you to stop their application.
  20. Has someone developed a method of comparing the various platforms based on certain aspects of backtesting and optimization...... If so.. can you point me to it. I have another question..perhaps this is the wrong thread...... 'What would be the target areas to aim for when doing an optimization'......... perhaps someone has some research that they will share. Thanks so much Have a great day, everyone...!!!!!
  21. Ninja Trader offers great support and a nice interface, however, I find that it uses a lot of resources....... the new version is supposed to reduce the use of resources.
  22. The long stoch is to demonstrate trend, the fast stochastics will show entry points...... use two time frames, enter off the lower TF, using the close of the bar that takes out the bar before the high or low...... I think that if you play with this for a while you miss no retraces whatsoever, trade only with the trend.
