Today I read some interesting information about Credit Default Swaps.

As this thread is only visited by intellectuals, I will assume you all know what CDF's are.

Now because lending institutions agreed to a 50% haircut against Greece debt, there was no default.!!!

No insurance would be paid .No CDF's.

It appears that MF Global holds Greek bonds , but thats beside the point.

US lending institutions hold 87% of all CDF's .

So it looks like the US has been manipulating the Greek fiasco.

Germany and France are small fry in this .

It looks like US banks could bear the brunt

More money to be printed.

The US dollar must fall

regards

bobc

Germany is trying to impose to other EU countries it's own imperium. Sooner or later , people in the rest EU countries will resist on that . In this case it will be Germany that will go out of EU. Euro (and other currencies that the rest nations will bring back ) will go down, dollar will go up. This will give room to US to print money again to face it's own problems. The Deutsce Mark at the beginning, at least, it will go up and thus German products will become expensive.Germany will lose a big portion of the markets of ex EU markets.

livernik I agree with you that basically Germany has too much power now(who would've thought eh?). The power they have is being used in the wrong way. They are indeed effectively trying to impose their own rules on these countries where it's not gonna work. It's kinda like when a big corporation buys a smaller but successful competitor, then imposes all it's own rules and practises on it. Surprise, surprise the company then becomes unprofitable.

I keep harping on this because my impression is that most are not quite getting it – Germany has conquered Europe. They are running into the same kinds of problems keeping an empire (together) that all other empires (past, present, and future) have…

The U.S. has also been conquered – from within. Denial phase is still extreme, including right here on this forum… Big lies are the most effective lies…

Comparing the mess in Europe to the coming tragedy in the U.S. – The European issues will ultimately look like a pimple …on a full blown ebola victim…

“…imposes all it's own rules and practises on it. Surprise, surprise the company then becomes unprofitable.” :(

Dear zdo

Whats your solution to the USA problem?

Where are we in the business cycle?

You must reply before 15th Dec. Holidays.

No one liners.

And bear in mind both the Democrats and Republicans will be watching you .

bobc,

Thanks for giving me some time on the ‘solution’… right now I prefer howling at the full moon…and from the looks of it, I’m not the only one lunating…

re “Where are we in the business cycle?”

That’s not really relevant at this point.

yes...is it the 3-5 year cycle or the 100-200 yr cycle

If we are just at the end of the biggest credit bubble in history that was ten years in the making culminating in a 25 yr equity bull mkt then we may have a long long way to fall.

Only historians will know later.
