Moving Trend

Based on William Rafter's article in 01/2003 issue of S&C magazine.

This indicator belongs to the family of Zero Lag moving averages.

It employs linear regression to detect trend changes;

you will find this indicator fast and responsive,

and is applicable in most popular trading time frames.

An optional band is included. You can set it to invisible if you do not wish to see it.

I would like to hear how you utilize this indicator in your analysis.

note:

This EasyLanguage indicator was written in MultiCharts.

I have not tested it in TradeStation or other compatible programs.

Please refer to your users manual for importation instructions.

Translation to other platform is invited.

Dear Thans

Thank you for this indicator

You make so much efforts in this forum with sometimes no returns

Here is my contribution of your contribution ;)

So

If I understand well they are 2 families of avgs

- Zerolag (Hull, MovTrend ... )

used closed to the price to show the waves ( as the zigzag somewhere) and are very reactives

- classicals average of the prices (Mov Avg Exponential, ... )

used as S/R ( like curved lines) or crossing with an other one to show the trend

I've tested ZeroLag's and realized that the candles are also a kind of "DoubleZeroLag noaverage" with white and black up/down

They are also a lot of more informations in candles

Also the MACD Histo ( an avg of an avg) is as much close to the price and shows more, like divergences etc...

As you know I use 2 EMA from the very begining and I'm still waiting for the next avg "Prince charmant" :missy:

Best regards

greeta indicator!!....good one....thx. Copied well into easylanguage. Tried the inputs of "13" (a fib #), seemd just a bar or 2 faster.....but both std & 13 give great reads to trend change on tick charts. Good one there Tams..... :)

Of course it works well.

EasyLanguage is a high level computer language,

i.e. it does not have low level machine manipulation capabilities,

therefore it has no way of "crashing" your computer.

If the indicator works for you, please click the "Mark as Installed" button and give a rating at the top.

A screen shot of your implementation (with on chart annotation) is appreciated.

Hi Tams,

I think that I am using your indicator,

even if not your implementation.

It is one that has survived in my toolkit.

I think I have used this method too often within physical chemistry, to get rid of it.

Am I right?

Basic linear regression with its SD bands?

Well, how to use it?

-Watch for rollovers.

-Trade it with the trend (if there is some), and otherwise ...

-And if you are knowing, what you are doing, trade it counter-trend as well.

Regards,

Hal

P.S.: I am still trying! :missy:

Did the above "Mark as Installed" button, but do not see a "rating" button. I will give it a 5/5 rating.....as tested it live today trading the ES/NQ, & did very well with it & my other ta's. Since I do not know how to post a chart in here, & my trading puter is another puter anyways from this one, for security reasons, here is what I did with it: have it on my fisrt level below Price, with the indicator "Value CHart" (also in thise section)....have found the two together, using the std. inputs (20) see's the turns extremely well on my 116tick tading chart & 305tk trend/anchoe chart. Haver also put it on my swing charts: Monthly/Wkly/daily/etc......sees turns about 1-2 bars before Price turns. So, is a great heads up trend change/entry eye heads up chart with those two together. Also have the "Rubber Band/142" indicator in chart in there as well ("142" as ELD).....the three work in sync for turns & give correlative same info....if not the same, then move fails, as saw like clock work today. Tried the fib #'s of 5,8,13,21 as inputs, but found the "20" default input was best & fastest in ther turns. So, great indicator....thx.... :)

Hi Tams,

I have rated it 5/5 now.

Its a good tool, and like it is with every tool,

the user has to learn, how to use it.

So far, the small settings are mentioned here.

I use 10 on my charts,

but sometimes I like to look at 50 or 100 too.

For me its not the center line,

I usually like to see the 2 SD bands.

I like extremes, this is why I like these bands.

Regards,

Hal

    • Question: To those that had/have cancer, what were the signs that made you think “something is not right here” to make you go see a doctor? Answer: So, 5/25/2018, I woke up, got ready for work, and as I walked to my car, I started gagging. Like something was stuck in my throat and I needed to clear it. And then it went away.   But 10 minutes after that, I was T-boned at 40mph on the driver side door. But what made me see a doctor was while my muscles felt better and bruises were going away, the gagging still continued, I started having fevers, my neck felt swollen, I was having such a hard time breathing, and I'd have random sharp pains in my chest, but not from where the seat belt saved me.   2 weeks after the accident, I finally see an urgent care doctor, who looks me over, tells me I'm fine, but luckily requests a neck X-ray. And I ask for a chest X-ray, which he rolls his eyes but let me have (most of my pain was in the neck, so I understand).   The very next day, he calls and says “So, that chest X-ray shows there's a 4 inch mass on your heart and lungs, and your lungs have been filling up with fluid, as well as in your pericardial (heart) wall. We need you to come in tomorrow.”   Turns out the big mass, due to the accident, caused my heart and lungs to tear and fill with fluid, the swollen neck and gagging was caused by 2 metastasized tumors, and the fevers and weight loss were symptoms. Stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma.   But thankfully, we went very aggressive with chemo (and had a lot of bad side effects that don't normally happen to patients), and now I'm about 16 months cancer-free. Yay lucky X-rays! • As a man, the reality of life is the harshest part. I don’t mind looking older or becoming weaker over time; it’s nature.   Have you ever heard that the only people who will be loved unconditionally are women and children? Men will only be loved as long as they can provide until they are no longer needed. It doesn’t matter if you already did your best to get your kids to the best school or get the best things for them, if you stop before they’re done with it, there will be no thank you. The only thing they will remember is that they have to quit school at 15, ignoring all the previous 15 years of life you provided for them. The only people who will accept you, no matter what, are your parents. But in this situation, you might be that ungrateful child.   EDIT: Wow, I didn’t think this would get so much attention.   For those who disagree, I can only say that everyone has their problem. If you don’t get the chance to face such a thing, be grateful. Remember, sometimes what you throw in the garbage is something that someone wishes ever to have.” – ElZee, Quora   Profits from free accurate cryptos signals: https://www.predictmag.com/
