What Web Browser Do You Use? Why?

Recommended Posts

What web browser are you using and why?

I use Firefox, for its ease of use (tabbed browsing etc.) but mainly for the add-ons that make it even better. No script (protection from some nasties), bandwidth meter, compact menu (more screen space), copy plain text, foxmarks, unplug, and more.

However - its a memory hog. I have tried some tweaks to fix this and they don't seem to be working, and sometimes it jams up my CPU ...

So - what web browser do you use?

Firefox, IE, or some other?

What do you like about it?

Hi.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate with Internet Explorer 7. IE7 on Vista comes with Protected Mode which is very cool to avoid some nasty malware/spyware.

I used Firefox in the past but I've not seen a good reason to keep using it (other than anti-Microsoft fundamentalism...).

Thanks,

I'm a huge fan of opera. It's easily the fastest browser you can use and it can handle 99% of the on-line bells and whistles you may or may not want to use. It even has a built-in e-mail and news reader (rss) so you dont even have to leave the software to get all your mailings done.

I wish they were a public company, I would be a buyer.

I second Opera. Very easy to use and faster than Firefox in my opinion. The speed dial is alot faster than the Firefox add-on version.

You can download torrents directly with Opera also, email system, and the easy Copy, Paste, and Enter function.

Instead of copying a link, pasting it and clicking enter... Opera can do this with one mouse click. very convenient.

Thanks for the responses - I have downloaded Opera and am having a play with it. Some fixes I have applied to FF are having an effect, which is good, as I am used to it and its add-ons, and of course there is inertia too...

There are heaps of browsers out there.

I have been using Opera for 2 years now and I just loves it.

I had used IE and Maxthon for many years and once I started using Opera, no turning back to others. Opera is my default browser now. Love the SpeedDial, the clean cut interface, unique mouse gesture (right/left click) for changing pages quickly, Opera downloader and also for its browsing speed.
