End of day software with screener for stocks/etf's

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a good software package for stocks/etf's that have built in screeners for end of day data? In particular I am looking for a screener for candle patterns.

By day I am trading futures full-time, but for retirement accounts and other money, I mainly look at stocks/etf's. It would make that job easier if I had a screener that can go out and find candle patterns for me and bring them back.

I just need EOD since these are mainly longer term plays. I'm not particular if the software is web based or installed on the computer, just the screener is important.

I currently use MultiCharts for my futures trading. Not sure if it's best to stick with that and find a data provider for EOD stock data or not.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I tried Worden awhile back and for whatever reasons, I just did not care for it. Maybe I'll take a look again.

Stockfetcher was recommended at elitetrader as well and at first glance, it's pretty nice for $8.95/mo. Almost seems too good to be true!

Not many long term stock traders outperform the market. Why not just invest in Spyders or Diamonds ETF? As you trade the futures of these markets full time anyway you should be able to find a good long term entry point.

notouch - I do invest in a handful of ETF's, as well as stocks, as well as tax free bonds, as well as CD's, etc. etc.

The point of the software would be to look for ideal entry points when adding to an existing position. I understand what you are saying though, that just dollar cost averaging may be the best option and to be honest, I'm not sure what is best.

Brownsfan - I realize it's been a while since you created this thread - but having found it (while having some of the same questions myself) I was wondering what solution/software you ultimately settled with? if any?

Any help is much appreciated,

Trade Navigator has an EOD scanner with numerous 'built in' settings - plus the ability to 'roll your own' criteria using both technical and / or fundamental data.

While I no longer trade equities, I wrote a fundamental scanner for The Trade Navigator Software Which is avilable free of charge. My point isn't that you might find the fundamentals scanner I wrote useful, but rather, I'm not a programmer, and I found it quite easy to create that which I needed. As such, anybody should be able to do it as well.

    • Question: To those that had/have cancer, what were the signs that made you think “something is not right here” to make you go see a doctor? Answer: So, 5/25/2018, I woke up, got ready for work, and as I walked to my car, I started gagging. Like something was stuck in my throat and I needed to clear it. And then it went away.   But 10 minutes after that, I was T-boned at 40mph on the driver side door. But what made me see a doctor was while my muscles felt better and bruises were going away, the gagging still continued, I started having fevers, my neck felt swollen, I was having such a hard time breathing, and I'd have random sharp pains in my chest, but not from where the seat belt saved me.   2 weeks after the accident, I finally see an urgent care doctor, who looks me over, tells me I'm fine, but luckily requests a neck X-ray. And I ask for a chest X-ray, which he rolls his eyes but let me have (most of my pain was in the neck, so I understand).   The very next day, he calls and says “So, that chest X-ray shows there's a 4 inch mass on your heart and lungs, and your lungs have been filling up with fluid, as well as in your pericardial (heart) wall. We need you to come in tomorrow.”   Turns out the big mass, due to the accident, caused my heart and lungs to tear and fill with fluid, the swollen neck and gagging was caused by 2 metastasized tumors, and the fevers and weight loss were symptoms. Stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma.   But thankfully, we went very aggressive with chemo (and had a lot of bad side effects that don't normally happen to patients), and now I'm about 16 months cancer-free. Yay lucky X-rays!
