  1. No its on the tape Tin. eSignal can show you the asks and the bids as well as the trades at the asks and the bids on the tape itself.
  2. In eSignal you can see the quotes as well as the trades at the bid and the ask. So if I place a new limit order, I can choose to see that popping up in the time and sales. I wondered if you had switched that on in TS or not. I switch the quotes off as it swamps the tape and just watch trades at/above the bid/ask. Thanks.
  3. Do you include bid/ask quotes on your tape or just trades? Great transcript - i ordered two tape books. I've had the tape up next to my chart for a couple of months now and I only watch the flow and maybe colour, but not the actual numbers just yet. I would really like to get to know the tape for scalping and timing longer term intraday trades.
  4. Thanks James, I missed the event and that post was very helpful to me. Great site, thanks.
  5. Great story thanks for sharing it. I'd love to hear more about your experiences with JC and HS. I have joined their website and subscribe to the newsletter videos - they certainly seem to know what they are doing and they have a great sense of humour also. What specifically did you learn from them - what do they do in their day-to-day that struck you the most?
  6. Another way to backtest is to use tick replay. eSignal has this - you can replay the day tick by tick and see candles form at any speed you want. This is a great way of backtesting without seeing what's going to happen next. I wish I had the time and discipline to do this kind of backtesting - it is very time consuming but ultimately valuable.
  7. Sounds like a great idea. If someone could provide me with VAL VAH values for the last couple of years I can load this into my SQL Server database and write a query and provide you with the results. We should study YM, ER and ES. Let me know, I have the historical intraday data already, I just need the VAL VAH values.
  8. Great stuff, I'm reading Mind over Markets now, and this really helps.
  9. Interesting I'd like to research that for myself. I do trade these reports using a fast news service with autoclick on british pound and euro futures. What is the liquidity like at these times - do you get really bad slippage? Here's my news trading journal Forex News Trading Journal You may wish to consider using currency futures instead because they tend to react more to the news.
  10. Values not on mypivots.com andyone got VAL VAH values for ER2 and ES?
  11. Look at Goldman Sachs profits. A lot more than 20%. All I am saying to you guys is, the professionals hire the brightest IT minds in the industry, get them to model systems you and I would never have a hope in modeling. They have the edge, and deserve respect when trading. If Goldman Sachs places a Buy order for 1000 S&P contracts, the market takes notice. What do they know that we don't know? Some banks trade for their own account and some are more conservative with clients' capital, I agree. People like Goldman are much more aggressive.
  12. Thanks. If you saw what the big boys do you would panic. They have ARMIES of IT people, economists, strategists, analysts, etc, building systems, data modeling, etc, the works. A few systems I worked on cost the banks 10s of millions of dollars to develop. That's how serious they are. You better make sure you do your research, lol!
  13. I know that most systems don't work, so if I use a system it will be something I have grown myself using ideas from other people blended with my own. I'd like to use a system to guide me to entries and exits but also use some discretion too. I have paper traded 3 or 4 systems and none of them have worked very well at all, on paper, so on a live account I'm sure they'd be a disaster. Favourite markets for me are the ER2 and ES, also forex, but I only trade forex on news releases. Forex seems a bit dirty to me with all the bucket shop brokers and I try and keep away from it, however news trading is so much fun that I can't resist it.
  14. I get Page not found When clicking on the link to the glossary. Does it need to be updated? Thanks.
  15. Hi there, Just found your forum this week. I must say thanks for a very well-designed and polished site. Lots of hours of work gone into that, well done. About me I worked for banks in London for 10 years developing and supporting trading systems. We're talking about the big boys here. I want to learn to trade for myself now after working for those guys for so long. I've learnt a lot from this site already, thanks a lot! keymoo
  16. Great videos! How did you capture them? I want to capture some myself.
  17. Hi there, Does anyone know of a free indicator to download for eSignal? The only things I'm interested in actually are the VAL and VAH values - is there a free indicator for eSignal that shows those? Thanks for any pointers. keymoo
