Velocity Futures

Recommended Posts

Velocity is a global Futures Commission Merchant (”FCM”) that provides active traders all over the world access to the electronic futures markets.

It is our belief that screen based trading on the futures markets is the best opportunity for active traders making the transition from trading exclusively equities to trading futures.

Focus on the Individual Trader The Focus at Velocity since day one has been the profitability of active high volume retail and proprietary futures traders. Velocity Management has had many years of experience serving the equity trading community as a leader in the electronic trading industry.Technology Investment

Velocity believes that one can not invest enough into a stable platform to trade on. As a result of this philosophy, we have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into exclusively Dell Servers and Cisco Network equipment. Each and every trader will get two logins on two different servers in the event of a catastrophic failure on your primary server. Velocity seeks to attempt to eliminate any single point of failure in your trading platform.

I'll make this brief.

I have been very satisfied with my experience with Velocity Futures and glad to see them on here at TL.

The executions and speed have always been to my satisfaction and I use it through the Ninjatrader integration. However, there are several other platforms you can choose and they definitely cater to the higher volume traders. You'll see some really nice discounts as your volumes grow, but it's really no issue working with them if you're starting out as well from my experience.

Daytrading margins are low, though I wouldn't suggest you max out with them since you'll probably be risking too much per trade. Sticks to the exchange margins to determine contract sizing I think.

XTrader that they offer looks robust and there is a regular and a pro version I believe.

Overall if you are a professional trader, or heading in that direction -- or thinking you'll be a very active part-time trader I think it's a really good choice.

I have traded with Velocity for several years and I find them to be consistently far above all the other brokers I have used in every aspect; I recommend them highly.

I agree with pretty much everything Steven said. There is one important point he left out. Velocity's low margins covers all time frames where you don't hold over a market close.

This means if you trade currency futures as I do, you can close your position at the close of the trading session (1600 central) and reopen it at 1701 using the same margin.

If you see a trade during the Asian hours the margin is the same as any other time. I completely agree with Steven that you should never max out their margins (currently $500 per currency contract).

I have dealt with many support desks and theirs is outstanding. They also have a neat feature which gives priority to customers with open positions if you call from the phone number associated with the account.
