Who is the Best?

Does anyone have some thoughts or experience on which brokerage firms have the best order fills and executions in the futures markets?

I use IB right now but am thinking of switching over to infinity, because I have heard they have faster fills than most firms.

I would be surprised if you notice any tangible difference. TT and Zenfire are considered by many to be the fastest order execution engines. Latency internet => broker => exchange and back again is likely a large part of the equation. Are you having issues? Could you use resting orders (stops and/or limits)?

The "hosted gateway" model is perhaps ideal in regards to latency for an active trader. The servers are held directly at the exchange so an order would go like this:

Trader > Exchange Server (with your FCM/broker tag on it)

On the other hand, a decrease in latency would most likely follow this route:

Trader > FCM (or broker) > Exchange

So basically the first model skips the order from going to your broker first eliminating the extra step.

Ask your broker if the servers are held directly on the exchange or not.

Yes good point James. Having said that the bigger latency issues is likely to be client to broker/exchange. There is an argument that having a broker close to the client is better as the brokers infrastructure to the exchange is likely to be as fast or faster than the internet. Actually in many countries the worse performing bit is going to be the 'local loop' (A)DSL especially at peak times when contention becomes an issue.

The question remains do you have to use market orders? Are you getting slippage? Could you use native (to the exchange) resting orders? I wonder the reason for your question, I still think you are unlikely to see much difference between brokers. To be honest I have not had problems with IB though sometimes Zenfire/Mirus 'feels' faster. I think that might just be the feel of the client (Bracket Trader with IB and Ninja With Mirus) both can 'stutter' for a split second sometimes. Where are you located and what sort of internet connection do you have? I still reckon that you are likely to see better improvements looking at that.

Yes that is absolutely true. Some fail to realize that internet connectivity as well as your PC specs can delay datafeed. My office PC runs a dual core and yet I still run into data delay issues when the markets take off. On my home pc running a quad core, I do not see this issue at all.

Fortunately in Japan, many are now connected by fiber optics so our internet speed is lighting fast. Those trading next to the CME are going to have a latency edge compared to traders from abroad accessing CME as well.

Things in the UK aren't too bad but the 'last mile' (that is usually less than a mile) is copper. ADSL2 gives double digit speeds but most ISP's here work on contention ratios on the link between the local exchange and the backbone network. You have to start paying bigger bucks for 1:1 contention ratios.

Hi Abboman,

I have used Infinity for over a year now and highly recommend them. The feed is as fast as anything out there plus rates and service are great. They also have a 30 day demo with realtime data you can try out. My broker is Tom Duffy - PM me for more information. I think he is offering a special right now.

yours in trading,

Jean

Thanks to all for your thoughts.

James I'll have to check and see where the servers are held by asking the brokers. Do you know of any brokers who have hosted gateways?

Blowfish, sometimes when I trade i practice just banging out 1/4's on the eminis and i can go through a ton of trades in a short period of time. We all know simulation executions are nothing like the real thing but my thought is that to do this kind of trading you would need a broker that can give you great fills. When i do my more longer term trades then you are right the executions are not as critical.

If you open an account with a broker that offers CQG Trader then you are looking at this model. This is because CQG uses the hosted gateway model for all its partners. Here is a list: Trade with FCM Partners

I would also look into Infinity as well since I do recall they offered this model.

    • Question: To those that had/have cancer, what were the signs that made you think “something is not right here” to make you go see a doctor? Answer: So, 5/25/2018, I woke up, got ready for work, and as I walked to my car, I started gagging. Like something was stuck in my throat and I needed to clear it. And then it went away.   But 10 minutes after that, I was T-boned at 40mph on the driver side door. But what made me see a doctor was while my muscles felt better and bruises were going away, the gagging still continued, I started having fevers, my neck felt swollen, I was having such a hard time breathing, and I'd have random sharp pains in my chest, but not from where the seat belt saved me.   2 weeks after the accident, I finally see an urgent care doctor, who looks me over, tells me I'm fine, but luckily requests a neck X-ray. And I ask for a chest X-ray, which he rolls his eyes but let me have (most of my pain was in the neck, so I understand).   The very next day, he calls and says “So, that chest X-ray shows there's a 4 inch mass on your heart and lungs, and your lungs have been filling up with fluid, as well as in your pericardial (heart) wall. We need you to come in tomorrow.”   Turns out the big mass, due to the accident, caused my heart and lungs to tear and fill with fluid, the swollen neck and gagging was caused by 2 metastasized tumors, and the fevers and weight loss were symptoms. Stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma.   But thankfully, we went very aggressive with chemo (and had a lot of bad side effects that don't normally happen to patients), and now I'm about 16 months cancer-free. Yay lucky X-rays! • As a man, the reality of life is the harshest part. I don’t mind looking older or becoming weaker over time; it’s nature.   Have you ever heard that the only people who will be loved unconditionally are women and children? Men will only be loved as long as they can provide until they are no longer needed. It doesn’t matter if you already did your best to get your kids to the best school or get the best things for them, if you stop before they’re done with it, there will be no thank you. The only thing they will remember is that they have to quit school at 15, ignoring all the previous 15 years of life you provided for them. The only people who will accept you, no matter what, are your parents. But in this situation, you might be that ungrateful child.   EDIT: Wow, I didn’t think this would get so much attention.   For those who disagree, I can only say that everyone has their problem. If you don’t get the chance to face such a thing, be grateful. Remember, sometimes what you throw in the garbage is something that someone wishes ever to have.” – ElZee, Quora   Profits from free accurate cryptos signals: https://www.predictmag.com/
