Limit Down Discussion

Could someone advise about limit down

It was pretty scary for me seeing S&P500 stuck

Was not in a position at the moment but what could one do

I see flow of orders on the tape for 855.25 and they are rolling in hundreds

FESX (Euro Stoxx made a low 2173 and is coming upto daily pivot @2254)

So will S&P open with a Gap-Down, re-open higher &

What happens to all these contracts placed at 855.25 (market & limit orders ?)

Many thanks

i don't trade the S&P, but did trade the Ags before and got caught in a limit move.

its a circuit breaker...in this case the market can trade up, but nobody can offer below the limit move....it locks down until the market opens and then we are in a whole new ball game.

if the futures stay limit down at the open, it will open lower. but historically there is usually a bounce off the limit. but that does not mean the bounce will change the direction...

gonna be a rough ride for the equity guys..

Limit Down Question

After market limits down

Could someone explain what happens to orders when the market limits down, new orders and one which were already placed.

Which order type is hold where ? On brokers local server or exchange server, which order type one can cancel and which one cannot be cancelled if any

At the moment market is limit-down but Why is the tape so bullish are these mostly people trying to get out of their shorts, trying to hedge or some kind of limit-down strategy being played out.

I need some input to my trading plan

Any suggestios, enlightenment would be well appreciated

Many Thanks Minoo

When it opens it will no longer be limit down (unless it moves).

There is an overnight limit (which is where it is now stuck) and a larger day limit (which is somewhere else (i don't trade us markets)).

    • Question: To those that had/have cancer, what were the signs that made you think “something is not right here” to make you go see a doctor? Answer: So, 5/25/2018, I woke up, got ready for work, and as I walked to my car, I started gagging. Like something was stuck in my throat and I needed to clear it. And then it went away.   But 10 minutes after that, I was T-boned at 40mph on the driver side door. But what made me see a doctor was while my muscles felt better and bruises were going away, the gagging still continued, I started having fevers, my neck felt swollen, I was having such a hard time breathing, and I'd have random sharp pains in my chest, but not from where the seat belt saved me.   2 weeks after the accident, I finally see an urgent care doctor, who looks me over, tells me I'm fine, but luckily requests a neck X-ray. And I ask for a chest X-ray, which he rolls his eyes but let me have (most of my pain was in the neck, so I understand).   The very next day, he calls and says “So, that chest X-ray shows there's a 4 inch mass on your heart and lungs, and your lungs have been filling up with fluid, as well as in your pericardial (heart) wall. We need you to come in tomorrow.”   Turns out the big mass, due to the accident, caused my heart and lungs to tear and fill with fluid, the swollen neck and gagging was caused by 2 metastasized tumors, and the fevers and weight loss were symptoms. Stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma.   But thankfully, we went very aggressive with chemo (and had a lot of bad side effects that don't normally happen to patients), and now I'm about 16 months cancer-free. Yay lucky X-rays!
