Need Help On Tradestation

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this belongs somewhere else but I am just getting started with Tradestation and have a problem when I set up my workspaces. On some of my indicators I only use some of the lines and make others transparent/invisible. I have been able to do this with 2 - previous chart software but cannot discover how to do this with Tradestation. Please tell me it can be done. Any Tradestation pros out there that can help me with this?

Thanks

Chas

For the BB, it's easy enough to go into the code and "comment out" the midline {just put french braces around Plot 3}. I tried this same game with the MACD, but when I commented out the AVG line, it messed up the whole indicator. So, one alternative way to make the AVG line to be invisible is to simply make it the same color as the background chart. There's probably a more elegant way to do it within the easylanguage code, but I don't know how to do that.

Here is a sample 7500 share chart. I would like the midline of the BB and the MACD and MACD AVG lines to be transparent. Appreciate the assistance.

As Tasuki said, you can put { } around the relevant plots or alternatively put // in front of the plot and it comments it out the same.

I've done a little video for you, so I can teach you how to fish and anybody else willing to learn Easy Language.

Hope this helps

Blu-Ray, just curious. Was there any sound with that video? It was clear without, but I was just wondering, because I got an error message when it opened, saying something about a glitch in the download. Thanks again---I didn't know that two hash marks works the same as the french braces....learn somethin' every day!

Well, you TS gurus were very helpful to me the other day and so I started to work on a MACD code to change the colors of the MACD when it is greater than the MACDAVG. I have attached what I have so far but it will not verify. It gives me a grammar error stating that it expects "(" at the place where my >= operator is. Can you suggest what I have missed?

[LegacyColorValue = true];

{ CW MACD }

inputs:
FastLength( 12 ),
SlowLength( 26 ),
MACDLength( 9 ) ;

Plot1( MACD( Close, FastLength, SlowLength ), "MACD", Red ) ;
Plot2( XAverage( Plot1, MACDLength ), "MACDAvg", White ) ;
Plot4( 0, "ZeroLine", Yellow) ;

if MACD >= XAverage then SetPlotColor (1,Cyan);

This part is the culprit.

if MACD >= XAverage then SetPlotColor (1,Cyan);

As that sentence is saying if MACD is greater or equals to an xaverage, but it's not stating an xaverage of what.

Here's how it should look:

if MACD >= XAverage( Plot1, MACDLength ) then SetPlotColor (1,Cyan);

Hope this helps

Blu-Ray,

Thanks for your responce. I made the change to the code as you suggested but it still gives the error message when trying to verify that it is expecting "(" at the >= operator. In all the code I looked at to try to do this I don't recall that I have see the operators in (). What is this trying to tell me?

Yes, sorry, my apologies, I didn't read it correctly, again it's a fault as it just says MACD without the bit afterwards:

Here this should work:

if MACD( Close, FastLength, SlowLength ) >= XAverage( Plot1, MACDLength ) then SetPlotColor (1,Cyan);

Personally I would have coded it up like this and it would have saved you a bit of trouble.

[LegacyColorValue = true];

{ CW MACD }

inputs:

FastLength( 12 ),

SlowLength( 26 ),

MACDLength( 9 ) ;

Vars:

MyMACD(0),MACDAvg(0);

MyMACD = MACD( Close, FastLength, SlowLength );

MACDAvg = XAverage(MyMACD, MACDLength );

Plot1( MyMACD,"MACD", Red ) ;

Plot2( MACDAvg,"MACDAvg", White ) ;

Plot4( 0, "ZeroLine", Yellow) ;

if MyMACD >= MACDAvg then SetPlotColor (1,Cyan);

Hope this helps

Blue-Ray,

That was fab. I used your code because it is much more elegant. I have a lot to learn.

Have a look at the file I attached. You can see where the MACD crossed the Avg line but doesn't change color immediately. I am guessing this has to do with the previous bar. Is there coding I can use to have the plot change so that it is spot on the cross over? I appreciate this very much and will be willing to post this indicator is anyone is interested.

You are not going to get it to change immediately as the MACDAvg could be sitting it between the values of the MACD of now & previous bar.

Cheers

    • Question: To those that had/have cancer, what were the signs that made you think “something is not right here” to make you go see a doctor? Answer: So, 5/25/2018, I woke up, got ready for work, and as I walked to my car, I started gagging. Like something was stuck in my throat and I needed to clear it. And then it went away.   But 10 minutes after that, I was T-boned at 40mph on the driver side door. But what made me see a doctor was while my muscles felt better and bruises were going away, the gagging still continued, I started having fevers, my neck felt swollen, I was having such a hard time breathing, and I'd have random sharp pains in my chest, but not from where the seat belt saved me.   2 weeks after the accident, I finally see an urgent care doctor, who looks me over, tells me I'm fine, but luckily requests a neck X-ray. And I ask for a chest X-ray, which he rolls his eyes but let me have (most of my pain was in the neck, so I understand).   The very next day, he calls and says “So, that chest X-ray shows there's a 4 inch mass on your heart and lungs, and your lungs have been filling up with fluid, as well as in your pericardial (heart) wall. We need you to come in tomorrow.”   Turns out the big mass, due to the accident, caused my heart and lungs to tear and fill with fluid, the swollen neck and gagging was caused by 2 metastasized tumors, and the fevers and weight loss were symptoms. Stage 4b Hodgkin's Lymphoma.   But thankfully, we went very aggressive with chemo (and had a lot of bad side effects that don't normally happen to patients), and now I'm about 16 months cancer-free. Yay lucky X-rays! • As a man, the reality of life is the harshest part. I don’t mind looking older or becoming weaker over time; it’s nature.   Have you ever heard that the only people who will be loved unconditionally are women and children? Men will only be loved as long as they can provide until they are no longer needed. It doesn’t matter if you already did your best to get your kids to the best school or get the best things for them, if you stop before they’re done with it, there will be no thank you. The only thing they will remember is that they have to quit school at 15, ignoring all the previous 15 years of life you provided for them. The only people who will accept you, no matter what, are your parents. But in this situation, you might be that ungrateful child.   EDIT: Wow, I didn’t think this would get so much attention.   For those who disagree, I can only say that everyone has their problem. If you don’t get the chance to face such a thing, be grateful. Remember, sometimes what you throw in the garbage is something that someone wishes ever to have.” – ElZee, Quora   Profits from free accurate cryptos signals: https://www.predictmag.com/
