Staples (SPLS) and Office Depot (ODP) announced plans to terminate their merger agreement due to regulatory hurdles. The FTC had sought an injunction in a district court to block the deal. Staples, which must pay Office Depot a break-up fee of $250 million, also terminated an agreement to sell more than $550 million in large contract business and related assets to Essendant.

CA Inc. (CA -0.63%) gained 3% in after-hours trading after it reported Q4 adjusted continuing operations EPS of 60 cents, higher than consensus of 57 cents, and said it sees fiscal 2017 adjusted EPS continuing operation of $2.51-$2.56, above consensus of $2.49.
