  1. That's the major draw I would think, no PDT. If there was a buck a tick contract it would be easier to practice better position sizing on smaller accounts but I'm not holding my breath there. Futures are no different than options or even penny stocks really. Anything that lets you gain too much leverage where your money can disappear quick is dangerous, yet this is where most noob start. So a 2nd big reason could be none other than greed and the quest for quick easy money. On paper trading...play around but be careful, I was making about 3k a week just mucking around on paper. Then I went live and it's a whole different ballgame. It's like riding a mechanical bull on low settings and getting amped up only to hop on a real bull and get bucked off. :o There ain't no free lunch on the markets that lasts, screentime is a must and extreme dedication as well.
  2. This is my struggle as well, getting sucked into the intraday noise. Also I'm trying to find the best timeframe for the YM to mark broad term key levels of S&R. 60 minute seems to be one option but I have limited data also with Think or swim. I can only do 20 day intraday charts. Now I can open it up to daily/weekly/monthly and get 20 years but it's not as granular as I'd like. I need to get some good historacle data somehow. LOL

I was stopped out quite some time ago on this play, proof I need to work on my stops and continue tweaking some. Did anyone get in on this tanker?
  4. There are no double standards here, you've instigated on many occasions with no course of action taken. Everyone gets some leeway...there is a reasonable level that can slide, then it crosses the line and something has to be done. I would also suggest those with thin skin shouldn't trade barbs. If one can't take the heat, they should stay out of the kitchen.

  6. ET has a much bigger number of visitors and users. As a site grows it's very hard to please everyone and contain all the drama. I think we at TL do a great job compared to on any other market site I've been on. Given the size here...I'll be bold and say James and the mods here do the best job even. While this may be a business for James, it's first and foremost his passion. That comes through in his participation, information and the way he cares about quality over user count. User count is lucrative business, it means more ad exposure. James has never mentioned user count to his mod team as far as I know and he gives us the freedom to ban as needed. Thanks to James and my fellow mods for making this place so clean.
  7. The above I posted on the web on Jan. 23rd. The levels I posted back then are coming up. 10,700 remains the most important level I can see. If we stay above that, the point of control is upheld and long term investors will hold albeit with a load of steamy crap in their pants at this point. If we break below there with conviction (especially close below) I'd look for massive bloodshed to accompany the crap in the pants. I'm looking at that volume pocket as a fault line, if we break that open it's going to be like an earthquake when we have plate shifting at the earths core. Here's an updated chart. In bell curve terms this is a chance to revert and test the MEAN. This testing is something the market does all the time on different timeframes. It's how value is probed in a 2 way auction. Goes higher, no interest...revert to the mean and see if there's interest. If there's no interest there it goes lower till there is no interest and then back to the mean. From the mean any direction could be tested FWIW, including chopping around and coiling at that section of price. My signature sums up how I feel about market movements. All JMHO

  9. A BIOS is basically a chip that lets you set your hardware settings and runs software code that acts as mission control. It's where all the hardware components capacities and settings are changed and then communicated to the operating system and motherboard. Another tidbit is the settings are stored on a CMOS aka clock battery. If your computer is older and goes haywire it could be the battery is shot and lost your bios settings. Macintosh have a more quirky reaction to a dead battery. I'd call it the brain but there are many brains in a computer. :o Flashing refers to updating the software code on any chip that is read only memory. You can flash cell phones, dvd burning drives rom, bios etc... Flashing is basically embedding a new/updated image on that read only memory. Enough rambling for now...if you guys every have questions feel free. I work in the computer industry and have built/repaired them for about 13 years now. I'll trade for market tips to get me making real money. :o
  10. He probably flashed the bios. If he flushed it you'd be asking for a refund and calling a plumber to unclog the toilet. Flashing the bios could solve many issues. Also always check for driver updates for the system level components (motherboard, video card etc...). And as we found out here, if a "patch" or update jacked you up, remove that update and see if it fixes things back to before the update.
  11. Could you PM me a link or any info you can share on the course. I'm just getting started with MP and am gathering all the insight I can from TL and elsewhere. Thanks
  12. I need to format again and go back to xp pro. I've tried vista about 4 times now and each time I erase and revert to xp pro. Vista is quirky as hell. I'll try to look into some stuff a bit later James, we'll see what we can figure out.
  13. He's willing trade for a setup of yours. I PM'ed him one of mine and we exchanged...sort of. I got the better end of the deal. Drop him a PM with one of your setups and I bet he'll hook you up. Thanks again Waveslider.
  14. You used the term spam, I did not. If I felt it was full blown spam it would have been deleted and you banned on the spot. I am interested in the approach you are suggesting and would like you to elaborate. So far you've been pretty tight lipped and given one liners and bait to bring the fish out. If you provide more info and value here, I will gladly retract my questions in relation to your motive.
  15. In reguards to your PM to me...I won't retract any accusation of "spam". The reality is you (or WE as it reads) have a site to promote, there is a "services" tab on the site. It's not populated yet, but it's there. What's going to be offered as a service in the near future? There wouldn't be a services tab there if it wasn't going to be used now would it? Could you share background on your user name? "Urma blew me" is how I would read that out. That dosen't seem very legit or credible, maybe I'm reading that wrong though so help me out here. That's what caught my eye and made me look into your posts to be honest. I also like the jab at the posters here and our "bleak technical discussions", real classy and a sure way to make friends. :\
  16. I have to ask...who is "we"? Are you representing the company listed on that image posted? It appears that's the case, and if so I'll have to ask you to stop advertising services here. I'll await your reply to decide what action to take. Thanks, MC
  17. Awesome looking profile merge. Any tips or screenshots on how to break up the smaller timeframe would be appreciated. I have the daily but the intraday smaller profiles I can't get set up for some reason. I don't fully understand the settings though, so maybe someone could teach me to fish instead of just giving me this one fish. Thanks
  18. I'm talking about tool selection, not saying everyone that looks at a tick chart is a scalper. Multi timeframe based confluence of levels for one. You can and will see additional/different levels on a more granular timeframe will you not? So on a tick chart much of which is noise to a swing trader, is not noise to a scalper. Would you try to tighten a screw with a butter knife? It may work but it's not the best tool for the job. If you look at a monthly chart that's in a bull trend and move in on tighter timeframes...each step in you see more and more detail. What's important to a scalper means very little to a long term investor and vice versa. If a long term investor is using a tick chart I don't think that's a logical fit and even as a rookie I would say that may be the wrong tool. Of course if you profit consistently who cares if the tool selection isn't what most deem proper. We all need to do what works for us, but often what works for the majority is the most applicable option no?
  19. Well of course...but there are auctions going on within other auctions. And of course the timeframe you use should jive with your style of trading. Do you not weigh the different timeframes in as a factor though? A test on 1 minute charts means much less to me than a 15 minute chart for example. A weekly to me is MUCH more important and less noisy than a daily. I'm not training to be a scalper though...so a scalper might use tick or volume based charts. It's all in the eye of the beholder and hopefully they are using the proper timeframe to match their trade.
  20. HRMMMM Could it be???? A longer period intraday chart with a test sans the 1 minute noise and micromanagement we all thrive on??? Yep...now back to my 5 minute noisy chart. :o
  21. IMO yesterday at the highs had shorts covering as well as longs ditching in anticipation for a short day today and the long weekend. The pullback EOD was on relative low volume showing no pro interest in either buying or selling. Today should be wild with seemingly mainly retail running the show. We'll see should be some fireworks in the market to get us ready for tomorrow. :o Always JMHO
  22. Here ya go tiger, knock yourself out. You are now a deputy of TL. :o
  23. Thanks for recognizing what I meant by "member in good standing", and backing the mods...we all thank you. If this was a 2 post noob we would have shut that down instantly and permabanned without blinking. When someone has provided value and great input for a considerable amount of time I feel we should ask the question about approval. Beyond that we can only use our judgment at that time and notify James who has the final say. Often a mod is only here to contain the damage and then notify the admin with higher decision making power. That's how most jobs work as well...things move up the chain of command. The 1st level is not the end all be all typically. Plus, James is not here for a quick buck and holds the highest level of integrity IMO. Give James some friggin credit here guys, it's not like he's harboring a murderer or laundering money. He won't let you guys down or allow TL to become a grounds for...well let's just say this won't become a T2W scenario. :o Some of those complaining have concepts that would work well in a vacuum, but this is a dynamic environment and all posters are NOT created equal. Life's not fair, the market is not fair and those with a clean track record are innocent until proven guilty in my eyes. If you have a bad track record or NO track record, mods should give just enough rope to hang with. Gnite fellaz
  24. :haha: There ya go...I don't want you to be the sad egg any longer ok.
  25. I'll reply since I'm sure you're referring to me. There was no misinterpretation, upon asking a long term member in good standing I was told that James had approved the thread. End of discussion on that as far as I'm concerned. When things got out of hand I locked the thread down and PM'ed James to await his decision on the matter. It's his site, therefore it's not up the gander to publicly vote on what's good for the goose. As a personal side note...I believe you mean well, but you're contant attempt to police TL has me on the verge of giving you an OCD diagnosis. :o
