    Hull MACD

Nice stuff WW: Would it be too much trouble to get the histogram operational too? Cheers.

    Hull MACD

Hull signal line, sounds good. Okay now how?

    Hull MACD

WalterW: Wherever an average is used I want to use a Hull.

    Hull MACD

I am a total noob to Easy Language so I need help coding a MACD with the Hull moving averages. Attached is the Hull Moving Average eld that has to be coded into the MACD. Many thanks. 200506182322582005_JTHMA.ELD
  5. Tried Gridiron, got about 300 horizontal lines on my charts! I am looking for Pivots like the TTM Auto Pivots with the nice labels on each level.
  6. TRO: How about the eld for the Pivots? I searched a bunch of your downloads and found the kitchen sink but not the pivot file.
  7. Here's a heads-to-head comparison between Hull, Jurik and Gaussian. As you can see, Hull is definitely one sharp tool. The downside with all indicators is that they are derivatives of price and therefore lag. However, the Hull can give you a heads up notification before others as to potential changes in direction.
  8. This image shows an 8 period Hull MA on part of Friday's 89 tick YM chart. Although it is a very fast setting the moving average is remarkably smooth hence it's utility. Some permutations and combinations of contract period and type combined with various Hull MAs have proven exceptionally accurate. I use a larger (5 Min.) time frame to filter out countertrend moves. Also, I do not try to call tops or bottoms but just to take a bite out of the middle.
  9. I have been playing with the Hull Moving Average for the past week. It is comparable, some say better than, Mark Jurik's stuff (jurikres.com), in performance and has the distinct advantage of being COMPLETELY FREE. The .eld discussion can be found here, https://www.tradestation.com/Discussions/Topic.aspx?Topic_ID=40589 The formula is also readily found for other platforms. The Hull MA truly is a double edged sword in that it may be too fast. However, the length, intra-bar update and colourDeltaBar (which indicates the change from up to down and vice versa) are adjustable. I was wondering if anyone else has successfully used this indicator? Also, I have used Tradestation less than 2 weeks, so if anyone knows how to code the Hull MA into a MACD I would be very appreciative. 200506182322582005_JTHMA.ELD
  10. Soul: Is there anyway to program each pivot levels' label? For example, "Daily R1" right above that particular pivot so as the day progresses the label stays visible in the area of the chart currently being viewed?
  11. What about tight, range-bound days (aka 'chop' or 'random rotational days') when the price action doesn't even come near the pivot lines? Are they just discarded on these days and some other strategy employed?
  12. There is a lot of discussion on these boards regarding Pivot Point trading and calculation and the purpose of this thread is to come to some definitive conclusions about which Pivot Point calculator and calculation method is best. There are four (4) PP calculators on this site alone and numerous other ones available elsewhere. My question is which one has the greatest validity? Does the user input session data or 24 hour data? Do you use the close or the settlement price? What about the vaunted and somewhat secretive 'floor trader' pivots? In sum, is there a consensus (and attendant back-testing) as to which numbers and which calculator works best?
  13. Buy as much screen real estate as you can. Just got 4 22" and they are awesome. Another cool thing to look into is Twin Wan routers. These puppies combine two different high speed connections (i.e. DSL and Cable) for redundancy and fail over and screaming fast combined speeds (sometimes near T1). Great for peace of mind and you can still use your landline and/or cell for backup to your brokers but I doubt you'll ever need it.
  14. Soultrader, do not look at the TIKI it will drive you insane. Do like John Carter suggests and put audio alerts at +/- 26, 28, 30 that call out buy/sell programs hitting the Dow. Try it and tell me what you think.
  15. Why use the NYSE Tick with the YM? Why not use the TIKI?
  16. I find it deeply ironic that Carter berates the use of indicators early in the book because of their inherent time lag and then later on touts his own TTMSqueeze indicator. Additional favorites like Stochastics, MACD, and RSI make appearances in Ch. 18 as well. If you closely examine the charts in Ch. 18 you will also see a surprising number of losing ttmsqueeze signals present. So what are we to conclude? I spoke with Hubert Senters and found his candor refreshing. He told me his TTMSqueeze, Bricks, etc. had a 50-50 win/loss percentage which is coin toss country. However, he implied that everything is filtered by market internals. Senters also truthfully said that they are no holy grail and that you must completely master market internals first before seeing any kind of success with any strategy. This book has plenty of valuable information that you can cherry pick but I recommend caution in using most of his setups. Both Carter and Senters are very honest and straightforward which is a rarity in this business. They have alot to teach us.
  17. Freddie: You are misinformed. Canadians most certainly CAN open accounts with US firms. All they require is for you to sign a Letter of Non-Solicitation and other standard account/tax information.
