Kinetick does not run off of NxCore and shares the same technology as IQFeed thus features between the two are identical.

We are always listening to our customer’s needs. We do have plans to add additional exchanges over time as demand warrants it. Many of the exchanges charge several thousand dollars per month in additional to large telco fees to bring the feeds in. We must weigh these costs against the demand to ensure it makes business sense to bring in the new feeds. I have noted your request and hopefully we will be able to get the exchanges added in the future.

Depending on your requirements, NinjaTrader is free if all you need is market analysis. If you want to trade, we charge you. We support a number of different feeds including CQG (mentioned earlier in this thread) plus our own brand, Kinetick. I am not sure I can answer the difference between institutional versus retail since I am not clear on the definition of what institutional is myself. Take for example, TelventDTN, the company that owns the technology behind the IQFeed service, Kinetick service and Prophet X service. IQFeed and Kinetick target the retail active trader where Prophet X is mainly installed in institutions. Different target markets, same technology. CQG targets institutions however; we just announced partnership with them to address our main demographic, the retail trader. Zen-Fire, technology used in institutions and prop shops however, NinjaTrader/Zen-Fire heavily used by the retail trading community. My point is that here are three products that clearly overlap both retail and institutional space using the same technology. Let me clarify some definitions…Market data service only provides data, trading engines provide data and order routing. Unfiltered data: Some provide it, some provide option to aggregate it, and in the case of the trading engine providers, filtered vs. unfiltered is dependent on the FCM who hosts the technology Time stamps: All market data vendors provide time stamps however, only some trading engines do thus, the client application must add a time stamp to incoming ticks Historical data: All market data vendors provide it, most trading engines do not Historical bid/ask prices per tick: Most vendors do not provide this Compression: Some vendors provide compression, some optional compression some do not My response likely does not make things much clearer. I think the point is simply, what do need as a trader? My comments are based on my direct experience in working with and writing to 15+ market data/brokerage API’s.

We do have a free EOD FX data source via Kinetick - Streaming real time quotes and historical market data, its built right into NinjaTrader. It is true that there is no free real time FX source at this time.

NinjaTrader is a platform only and allows you to connect to a data source through either a market data vendor or a brokerage account. - If you have a brokerage account that is supported by NinjaTrader --> You likely don't have to pay any market data fees - NinjaTrader provides access to free EOD through Kinetick - Streaming real time quotes and historical market data or Yahoo Finance and Google - If you need real time data and don't have a brokerage account then yes, you would have to shell out some cash. We prefer Kinetick - Streaming real time quotes and historical market data but you can also use eSignal or IQFeed.

As most already know, the NinjaTrader platform is free for everything except for live trades through your broker. Assuming that you would only want to use NinjaTrader for charting, analysis and/or custom indicator/system development...You would need to tie it to a market data source. Your options here are a cheap as "free" if you have a brokerage account that we support (TD Ameritrade, MB Trading, Interactive Brokers for example all provide data that you can drive into NinjaTrader free of charge) or if you only require EOD data, Kinetick providers that free of charge or you can connect to Yahoo or Google Finance (NT7). If you require intraday data... - Kinetick (Kinetick - Streaming real time quotes and historical market data) base fee is $50 per month which includes 100 real time symbols - eSignal or IQFeed is a lot more expensive than that

CME has native stop orders both stop market and stop limit. NinjaTrader does not hold any stops client side, they either go to the exchange or are held server side by our connectivity providers like Zen-Fire, Trading Technologies or Interactive Brokers to name a few.

This only happens with 6.5 when connectedt to GAIN or Zen-Fire which uses NinjaTrader historical data servers. With 6.5 historical data server, we do not support daily bars. With NT7 due out shortly, we do support historical daily bars. Of course, using any other broker or market data service like Kinetick - Streaming real time quotes and historical market data that does support historical daily bars will work in any version of NinjaTrader.

Kinetick is a market data service owned by NinjaTrader. Telvent DTN is in fact the technology provider. Integration wise, NinjaTrader does not use their API but writes directly to the Telvent servers thus the interface is more efficient and direct than any 3rd party tool that connects into the IQFeed API. Although Kinetick is new, the technology behind it is battle tested. Price wise its also much less expensive than other options such as eSignal.
