  1. Hi, I'm looking indicator advanced XTL get.

    for ninja trader.

    Someone can help me?

    thanks

there is no xtl outside the advanced get environment. Recently on another forum someone released an xtl according to that person, but its not quite the same a nice aproximation but not the same

I have used ad get from the early 90s and xtl is quite good but the good thing of xtl is not the xtl itself but the way you shoud use it, on that account a simple sma crossover will do if you know kow to trade the xtk itself

  2. first i must state that i consider optimization as the mother of all f**kups.

Having said that, the best tools are both Ninjatrader and matlab

Matlab, when one has the ability to program at a certain level, goes beyond anything.

For quick and dirty (and for people not familiar with programming) NinjaTrader is excellent. I have the opportunity to use NT7 and indeed solves a lot of problems regarding resources use.

Two additional interesting programs for system design are quant developer and rightedge

But I repeat the best actually is matlab

  3. dont think he is affiliate, I posted a while back that I had a problem funding the account, once I got the money back, I tried again. I started really with the left foot on that issue and now I recommend mirus to everyone ;)

  4. I gave a shot to a trial of optionvue 6, I tried opvue 5 in the past and ended up with another platforms. Well the optionvue 6 never worked, it installed alright but the soft didnt show any data, when talking to support they didnt find any way to solve it and even ask me to format my computer (even knowing that the only problem was with optionvue), keep away, or give the soft a trial (14 days they allow) to see if it will work on your machine or not, but knowing the platform they are offering the lousy support and the pricing is such a ripoff...

  5. I didnt went to the bank and i Opened from a far from first world country. IPB programas are used to this requests they only ask for certificated documentation such as a certified copy of the passport

Another solutions that I forgot is to go to an HSBC bank an get a premiere account, then ask them to open a USA one for you, citibank will do that too; for wells fargo is in person or by airmail

  6. You should get into an internation personal banking program, I know of two good ones the wellsfargo and the citybank, the citi has a major plus they allow (at least that is what they state on their site to make transfers costless from USA to a local account on a citi at your name), when I check them I think asutralia was on the list for this offer, and I think there is low cost atm extractions if you go to a citi atm

  7. I was abot to start an iphone thread but i made a search before, I was amaze no one wrote about the Iphone finantial apps

suchs as the free istockmanager that if you have resgistered an account with ameritrade you get real time data, level 2 and everything else

There is also the bloomberg app with delay.

In the paid sections you have stockcharts, that is for technical analysis, its not complete but its good enough.

And my favorite the hp12c (buying that one free me of carrying around the real one

I actually went to buy the iphone when I found out about the istockmanager

  8. This is really why I don't understand the point of these threads..

Sure if your small enough, with robust enough software you can hit the high frequency arbitrage guys liquidity problems and ride the wave they make..

I'm sure something like that works better than technical analysis...until the account grows and your own lack of liquidity puts you up against the real high frequency guys blow for blow.

On the flip side though I do see Urma's point, alot of the ideas on this board are just utter garbage and not in tune with the reality of the modern markets.

The real problem though is we are talking at the limit of an internet message board. I have alot of ideas on this type of stuff with zero reason to ever post them until I've explored them dry.

A more technical/software focused direction to these threads would probly be better than techniques.

I agree ,in most strategies you must put a cap on the amount of money you can use, I have a profitable strategy that has split the capital at some point and start over cause the profit fades away as you increase the capital

  9. Or help them make more profit. To beat them, you would have to detect and execute these trades faster than they do it. If you are just a little slower than they are then you would actually help them (while still being able to profit).

I don´t think so, many people doing this same kind of strategy will difficult the entry, if the system is really good you only need a few people trading 50 contracts to make you loose some trades or getting at worst prices

Certainly there is strategies that are benefited from massive participation but i dont think this one is one of them

  10. well I was reading again all the posts in reference to the system, actually I don't agree with someone saying you didnt said much, the system is easily reproduce, or is just me that I work with something similar in the past and worst conditions (emerging markets are harder to analyze on those terms). But either way the system can be reproduced perhaps not exactly but closse enough, the data and the programming are not issues either.

The real asset here would be the rules in which such information is applied, its nice way to present the information but the key here are the rules of trading you must be developed by now, and more to the points the profit loss analysis, probabilities of success, optimal amount of contracts, and so on. Without that we are only seeing nice charts and nothing more.

Don't get me wrong I found the system refreshing and Its visually compelling but I would like to see not the rules of trading itself but the parameters of efficiency and risk I mentioned above

To make this discussion go forward either you put the parameters of efficiency and risk so we can compare it with other systems, or you publish let's say two charts at the end of trading day the one iwth your info and the one with the asset and you say when, why and how did you trade, that would be better than the first since the first could be made up number

Either way you people are onto something, and If you ask me in your place (and taking into account that you have deloped a nice profitable system) I wouldnt discuss it anymore, since the publication of the rules and system would arbitrage the profit potential away

  11. Sorry, no. But it might be of interest that Peter Steidlmayer was a very infulential mentor.

Its a shame Peter never advanced his work to take advantage of today's data and technology. His principles hold true even today and the posts I have made concerning trade intensity and other all come from his teachings that the answer to it all can be found in the order flow.

In the days when open outcry was the only way, the trader in the pit had a huge advantage. There was no online volume data for futures but all the trader had to do was look towards the phone banks, if he saw many backs of hands he knew there was a wave of buy orders hitting the floor and if he saw palms he was seeing a wave of selling.

Thanks to everybody for the kind words and with a couple of early exceptions, the friendly welcome.

why don't you right a book or organize a paid seminar? I think you'll have quote and audience

I work in something similar quite a few years back that only applied to merging markets, but your work seems more advanced

  12. well I opened an account with Mirus everything was quick up until yesterday, when my money got there they said they couldn't accept it if I don't produce bank statement, seems they don't know what a correspondent bank is. When wiring overseas usually your bank uses a correspondent. After complaining they say today they will instruct the treasury to bounce the wire to the originator.

So until a week from now I wont be sure if my money will get back at me or not, now i thank my extreme paranoia about wire transfers that i only sent the account opening minimum just in case. If next week Ill get my money back ill post an update, but rest assure that I wont send a check for funding the account as they suggested

Just in case keep away from Mirus, regarding the transfer I was able to use this funding method with IB that is extremely picky on how to fund your account. So mirus is completly irrational about it, either way is my fault for looking another futures brokers for minor IB glitches

  13. i got a corporate finance degree and a masters on economic and finance

beware that even that the college degrees will teach you a lot, the minute you are on your own youll realize that college didnt actually teach you most of waht you really need when analyzing and trading

I ended up as an assistant professor on account I knew more of bonds markets than my teachers, since my grandfather was a bonds trader and taught me since I was a teenager

  14. articles with "economic conspiracy theory" reasons are more appealing, so they write that, as friend of mine said to me when oil hit the 100 level and break out

"when prices go up the problem (the excuse obviuosly) are speculators (for our country argentina), businesses that buy and hold consumer products to sell them higher, instead in bussiness as usual, now the inflationary process is on the first world, and whom to blame? speculators, but the economies are so big that buying products and hold them is not enough, so they buy and hold oil, gold and so on" lol

So the media feed the idea that speculators are the reason of all "evil"

but as my friend stated is ridiculous to think that in both levels, unless speculators are renting australia as warehouse its impossible lol
