  1. If not putting your hand over your heart means you're unpatiotic then most of the citizens of Australia are pretty (to use a very "in" term now" un-Australian. We even make fun of our national anthem!

I don't believe that patriotism revolves around a set of gestures or hollow promises to be true and faithfull blah blah blah. Patriotism is more about the feeling of love and dedication you have for your land. It doesn't have to always be ostensibly shown through the innane practice of holding a hand over your heart. When your country looses a close sporting event and you're on the verge of tears that makes you pretty damn patriotic.

When you can sit back and joke about yourselves that makes you patriotic. Australia is definately a different place than the US. Over here we have a sense of larikanism that is pretty wide spread throughout the country. We don't like to take things too seriously here so if we had Obama here not putting his hand over his heart most people except for the ultra conservatives wouldn't give a rat's arse about it.

What is worrying here however, is that the government wants to implement a citizenship test for all new immigrants before they are allowed to become citizens. The test is meant to be about Australian values. How do you quantify something like that? Countries like the USA and Australia are relatively new countries in the world and since their inceptions have become melting pots to a very vast range of different people from different ethnic, cultural, religioius, and linguistic backgrounds. Is it fair to assume that the values held by the first white people to settle in the land as being the litmus (sp?) test for the level of patriotism we should all aspire too?

If we take the original settlers as being the epitomy of patriotism I should be speaking one of the 150+ Aboriginal dialects in this country which has been inhabited by the Aboriginals for over 45,000 years!

I reckon that in the end your meaningfull actions really define how much of a patriot you are. Not placing a hand over a heart is hardly a case for concern. For some of you it may be, however I'd be pretty offended if someone said I was un-Australian because I think that the Ugg boot is one of the worst inventions in fashion ever, or that Fosters and VB suck balls in the beer department (sorry USA fellas we ship that camel piss over to you guys lol).

Yeah I agree with you there Nick. As much as I personally take pride in putting my hand over my heart (or popping a salute as it used to be)...I am not going to jump to conclusions that someone is unpatriotic just because they don't share my exact beliefs. Like you said, your actions, not gestures are the defining characteristics of someone as a patriot.

ha ha funny, as I knew a couple girls from Sydney who said the same thing about Fosters. haha!

  2. No prob Nick, glad to share and hopefully save someone the frustration and money.

I told Price in my last email to him that whenever possible I was going to tell as many people as I could that his services were terrible and should be avoided. I wasn't lying. I've posted on elitetrader whenever I see his name and now here. I haven't brought it up myself, but I will not hesitate to share my experience when I see his name mentioned at all.

And before anyone thinks I am simply a vendor basher, please keep in mind that I did in fact purchase services from Price and can provide an informed opinion. I thought Price was a nice enough guy to at least follow through on his promises to me, but I was terribly wrong. He knows how to sell and preys on that. In my time with his services (1 year) I never saw anything even remotely profitable over time. Yes, there were some winners here and there, but nothing compensated for the many, many losses. And I was using 5 or so of his services as a gold or platinum member. This was not just one service that hit a losing streak. At the time, this was his best 5 services they had... If that was the best, I could only imagine what the worse ones were doing... :\

I revisit his site now and again and he's got a good system in place - when a system dies, just get rid of it and find a new one. The smoke and mirrors being done here is just amazing b/c he remains in business somehow. It's a shame that people like this are even allowed to operate a business, but to each his own. I learned my lesson and as I said, I hope my posts serve as a reminder to others that the grail is not out there and if it was, you cannot purchase it.

Yeah I hear you there man. I've always been lucky enough to be a cynical bastard...I bought a couple of crappy books and wasted a bunch of time researching bad ideas on the internet..but luckily I haven't dropped any big money other than on some worthless books here and there and a few free trials to chat rooms when I first started.

I was lucky to find a solid method and ideology early in the game...I am still as always messing around with and attempting to build on my knowledge...but I always have the old standby method that works fine.

If I never was able to make any improvements to my current method, that would be fine with me...but in the meantime...I am always going to be looking for improvement.

*PS...I have never had any big disasters with vendors and books...but I have a bunch of small losses here and there that add up to a relatively large amount of money. ha ha But it was worth it, as I know what I know now.

  3. Thanks Reaver. I'll look into it. Rgiht now I have lots of books that I'm reading:

    1. Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom, Tharp

    2. Mastering The Trade, John Carter

    3. Millinaire Traders, Lien, Schlossberg

    4. The Market Maker's Edge, Lukeman

I liked the Tharp Book. Carter's book is good, and Lukeman's has some good points here and there.......I haven't read the other one...but that's a good list.

Remember, the most important thing is not the exact methods you read in the books...but what those ideas can inspire you to figure out for yourself.

  4. heh heh I was gonna ask you the same thing. LOL

You mentioned looking at options volatility, and it reminded me of Zweig, who "invented" the put/call ratio...made me think to ask if you'd read it..I have been thinking about picking it up, but figured I'd ask...Sorry to jump off topic. I'll let you know how it turns out.

  5. Abe,

Hey I would suggest Trading Day By Day by Chick Goslin.

Even if you don't necessarily follow his method, the ideas in the book are second to none. The guy is a real gentleman. Hard core real deal too, 30+ yrs as a trader. not a theorist. He has statements posted on his website if you'd like to check for yourself.

  6. I will pay a visit... first, thanks for the invitation Dynamites, and second, feel free to use TL to add some explanations with charts etc... I am sure we will all enjoy them here... I am a scalper myself, so I will give you a visit ¡¡

About the scam fobia, we had some rufians arround lately, thats why our mods feel unconfortable with the invitation and no post here.. maybe one chart here will relax that fobia..
