Question about pip value variations

Recommended Posts

I've been noticing variations on pip values during an open position.

For example:

- GBP/JPY should have a pip value of US$0.87 on mini-accounts.

- Being long about 100 pips on this pair is returning me US$0.85 per pip.

Does this happen because Gain Capital changes the pip value at will or because the leverage ratio is being changed also at will by Gain's servers?

If that's what's happening, that gives a whole new meaning to the words spread and hidden commissions....

Normally, if your acct is in dollars, first you have a dollar conversion to the base currency of the pair, thats why this margin is changing... thats my two cents on this. cheers Walter.
