I found this post on "I Look Back Now and Wonder" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Topic Of The Month July, 2008"

I will try my best to make it. Thanks

Thanks for the link nick. Hubert is an excellent tape reader. Amazing.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts ant. I'm still currently in the middle of Mind over Markets. In your MP indicator, is it possible to setup a composite profile? How would I go about doing this? I feel like your approach in understanding the overall market picture using MP gives more information than analyzing a daily chart.

I understand that the POC is a key reference point for Market Profile traders. What type of strategies do you guys use with the POC? Is the POC from the past sessions (beyond yesterday) as important as the previous days POC?

Quick question regarding the opening range for the S&P 500 futures. Is this released right before the open? Is this available only for floor traders? I have learned of several strategies using the opening range but can not seem to find anywhere that would provide such information.

Hi texxas,
How did you come up with 35%? 50% is common, also a fib ratio. Curious to know why 35%? Thanks

Very interesting strategy feb. I never traded currencies but will look into this. Thanks

hahaha nice one.

I agree with Ant. One thing I also do is look for momentum or force index divergence from price for reversals in the first 30 minutes of trading since we don't know if the market has a trend already or not. Works quite well.Do you watch for the markets to run out of steam and reverse by using momentum divergence? How effective have you found the 10:00am reversal? Thanks

I am more of a scalper but tend to play counter trend trades more often.

Would you consider the ER to be the easier emini to trade?

Where can I get detail instructions on how to read and apply pivot points.Try doing a search here. There is a ton of material on pivot points including videos, formulas, etc...

2) Because I am a trader and thus not in the guessing business. I trade what I see, not what I think I "might" soon see.You are definitely right about that. There is alot of wisdom in your comments ez. Thank you. Always treasure reading them.

Been wanting to establish a short for a swing on the indexes for quite some time now.
Are the markets ready for a crumble?
-
There is no such number. But a 1000 trades is good for starters.

Cuz they suck. lol

Technically speaking, up. Fundamentally down. So I say flat and unchanged.

I havent heard good things about them. I hear alot of complaints on bad fills and slippage. However, they do receive a good reputation for their trading platform. I dont trade Forex so Im only posting what I heard.
Hopefully a Forex trader in this forum will help you out.

Took me 1 1/2 year of constant reading and practice 'til my eyeballs hurt but it was worth it. I gained a lot of confidence and began to trade live when I understood the laws of supply and demand that rules the market.Nice feb. Thats fairly quick for any trader. What type of trader are you?

Anyone ever read Pit Bull? I found Marty Schwartz to be fairly impressive.
-
Haven't seen his track record but I will never place an indicator before price. He seems to have conviced alot of novice traders in using the CCI. This may evetually backfire when the indicator no longer does what its supposed to.

I have found that the 34 ema is very trustworthy as a pivot to fade. Woodies group uses this moving average with the cci.Hi namstrader,
Do you trade as part of Woodies group? I am familiar with Woodie from the cci. What does Woodie mainly trade and in what time frame? Thanks

As much as you can learn from your own mistakes, you can also learn from another persons mistake. Budman has some really good advices for any novice trader.
I also recommend starting off with 1 or 2 contrracts. Trading is a business and a skill game. During the bubble, no skill was necessary to make money. But with current market conditions, this is the true trading arena. Master the skill or you will lose.
Good luck on your journey Andrew. Most traders have been where you are. Those who climb out of it are the traders that will make it in this business.
