  1. My acquaintance said that he uses PT multistation's PTL strategy builder with its optimization, back testing and debugging tools (supports EasyLanguage, C#, VB.NET, etc).

Anyone know how it compares to other automated strategy builders, and in particular back-testing tool?

  2. If this is the lbj that I know locally, please stay! We love you in Cleveland!

    :thumbs up:

I smoke, so nothing to do with Cleveland! Do any soccer players still smoke?!

Do any soccer players now trade (not sure they need the money)?!

  3. I was just wondering how much time others are putting in on a daily basis related to their trading career. I was trying to add up what I spend right now and thought it would be nice to see how much time others are also spending. If you would be so willing, please post your time spent on average per day as broken out below.

A = Actual trading (watching the DOM, entering orders, etc..)

B = Trading methods review, review of the day’s trading, record keeping, etc..

C = Researching new methods, reading books, reading TL for new trading ideas

    Here are my current numbers:

    A - 4 hours

    B - 2 hours

    C - 2 hours

    Total daily average: 8 hours

I do expect that number to come down after a year or so more of trading but for now, I have a lot to learn.

How do you define category A (in more detail)?

Do you include breaks in your 8 hours (lunch, coffee, cigs, etc) as in normal 8-hour day-job?

  4. You might want to take a free spin for thirty days on Trading Solutions.

Trading Software, Neural Network, AI, Technical Analysis, Market Timing, Stocks, Futures, FOREX

You might want to take a free spin for ever on PT multistation with its PTL builder IDE...

Pro Trader multistation platform is completely free unless you want to subscribe to their (PFSoft's) multi-vendor connection or autotrading functionality...

  5. ProTrader .NET Station / PT multistation trading terminal shows an extra little bar chart for the volume, at the bottom of the chart beneath every candle, which I find convenient, and appears pretty standard.

But more interestingly is that this terminal also shows a volume graph updating in real-time in the volume column of the watchlist for each instrument, stock, etc. - and you can easily sort that column.

  7. Where it gets to be a lot of fun are a few years in when your child starts to watch you and the charts -- it's fun for them since let's face it, patterns, colors, lines, bars, etc... is kinda cool for a kid. Over time my daughter has become reasonably good at picking out some trading patterns and does watch some of the trading even now. Of course she tells me clearly there's no chance she's taking over the business but we'll see.....

Wonder what people think the most interesting trading terminal for kids is? And the best for kids learning to be traders? I'm using PT multistation at the moment, which is pretty graphical, colorful, and was pretty intuitive to learn for me...!

  8. Much appreciated advice, MadMarketScientist. Thx.

"Following in father's footsteps" - that's an interesting, and very positive, point that I didn't think of.... Yeah, can imagine too, nice for kids with all the moving colors and shapes on charts and all...

PS. That reminds me of (have you heard?) the joke about the Policeman following in his father's footsteps? - his father was a thief!

  9. Congratulations from me too, James.

We are also expecting our first child soon :) so I was wondering if you (or anyone else) might like to comment on how your little cuties / starting a family has affected your trading (and life in general!)...
