  1. Because "All I want here is for these attacks to cease and just let my post contributions stand on their own merit". Change TL user and stop promoting and the attacks stop and his post stand on their own merit - simple right.

TL owners are weak in this regard and have in the past tended to sided with the vendors.

Ok ceasefire please. Thread has been cleaned and the initial promotion has been removed.

Let's keep the discussion to the thread topic.

Roger\Predictor - please don't promote your products in the discussions. If you want to, we can setup an arrangement in the Commercial section.

MightyMouse - thanks for highlighting this issue.

Everyone else - please use the 'complaint' button next time instead of endlessly attacking each other in the thread ... as you see, other members are also tired of the bickering.

    Thanks everyone for cooperating

  2. "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat"

    - Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Technical set-ups are not strategies, they are tactics.

Identifying a specific profile or pattern in conjunction with an indicator signal is not a strategy, it is a tactic.

Tactics are the maneuvers traders execute to win and lose battles. They may produce short term marginal gains but will not win the war of true consistency if they are not coordinated with a strategy.

Defining a strategy to execute trading tactics starts with understanding market state. Market state is the technical environment the drama of trading day is played out on.

Incidentally, it's been a month now. Any progress on getting this fixed? Or moved? Or eliminated?

Hi Db ... we are not experiencing this problem with our Firefox installations. We tested on version 8, 12, and now 19. Can I ask if you are using the latest version?

    thx

  4. There are many foreigners coming to Asia to work or enjoy their retirement. There is a huge difference in cost of living, compared to Europe and U.S.

For a trader there are extra advantages of course. especially time difference. You can come back home from work and start trading with London session.

I'm in Shanghai right now and trying to trade the NY session is terrible ... unless you are a night owl and want to stay up well past midnight.

  5. Thanks for the post. I will have to read in detail the other Optiontimers Project thread - I thought that system was primarily for futures.

My biggest losses this year were also from naked puts: $9k, $13k, $12k. But I was also able to recover all of that with successful naked puts. So I haven't completely written them off just yet but I must admit the 'naked' part does not help me sleep at night.

  6. Interesting question ... I would buy the same number of contracts because a straddle is about profiting when the stock moves in either direction, not about balancing the cost to get into the position. So once the option is in the money, every dollar of movement is 1:1, the initial cost doesn't matter anymore. I would think of the cheaper put as being able to put on a straddle cheaper!

  7. Hey guys,

My attention has shifted from futures to stocks right now. My focus specifically is on gaps. What kind of stocks show this type of behaviour time and time again? Should I be looking for stocks with low betas or high alphas? The NYSE universe is fairly large and its easy to get lost in it. I was wondering what kind of criterias should i be looking for if I want to build a system around stocks that constantly gap up or down in the morning

    Suby

Try the 2x\3x leveraged ETFs - they are built for trading and they move. Or even a stock like AAPL, despite its market cap, it moves quite a bit, that is why I buy\sell options on it.

  8. Technicals definitely for me. Fundamentals seem very boring to me and the feel when you predict a move and make money off it from a chart is amazing.

Your trading for the rush! Truth be told, I do that too ... but I limit the downside by using option calls\puts
