  1. James, I agree with you. It is definitely crazy how hard it is to get past the classic TA habits when you're trying to learn something else. All the "truisms" and "rules" and whatnot of TA I repeated over and over really got ingrained...and it starts messing with my head when I am trying to wrap my brain around AMT, etc. I am doing pretty good on the 2 day to 2-3 weeks scale on trading with TA...but I feel like I am not being challenged. I know that may sound stupid to want to move from something that seems to work alright...but really I feel like I will go crazy if I don't figure it all out for myself, like I won 't appreciate it as much or something over the years. So I think I am pretty much at the stage you mentioned yourself being at a while back. That's one thing I really enjoy about the forums is the atmoshpere is very conducive to learning and sharing ideas. I know it always ALWAYS boils down to each person figuring out what works for them, and obtaining an understanding that only they can have, but it is great to have fellow traders here to throw in ideas and enlighten here and there. It really shortens the learning curve, and opens my mind to things I may not have thought about on my own.
  2. Yeah I hear you there man. Helping/teaching kids really makes the world seem like a better place when you do it. I agree completely. Also, funny you mention the Nashville thing. I am originally from Corinth, MS, which is only a couple hours away from there (very close to Jackson, TN). One of my best friends' brothers was on the city council for Springfield, TN (If I am not mistaken, its been a few years). Small world Chris.
  3. Blowfish, Thanks for the info. Would you say that taking the time element out of the equation was beneficial, or merely another way of seeing the same stuff?
  4. We have all heard the correlations of strong body=strong mind and vice versa.... So how important is physical conditioning to you as far as trading and every day life? If conditioning is important to you, what do you do for training? Also, what do you eat? Do you follow diet guidelines, or just eat whatever? etc... Just figured it would be good to share some ideas and have discussion on this often overlooked topic. I personally USED to run 8 miles a day and do an ungodly amount of PT (calisthenics)...but of course we had SEAL Team 8 H Platoon on board and they were some very generous guys to work with as far as dishing out new and exciting ways to cause extreme pain to yourself in the form of training. I have toned it down significantly these days. I have a gym set up in a Florida Room (fancy word for a sunroom I think) and it has a standard olympic bench, two sets of dumbbells and a pull up dip bar and of course the heavy bag and a 50lb weight vest to make things more exciting...along with various other odds and ends (sandbags, jump ropes, etc). I pretty much just mix it up to keep myself occupied...I'll tell you, after 4 years of kicking your own ass every day for peak physical performance (I could clock a 1.5 mile run in my Bates 924s and BDU pants in 7:42), it is easy to burn out if you're not careful...so I have to strive to keep things interesting. I definitely don't work as hard as I used to, and sitting at a desk all day at work doesn't help either. I try to keep things as unprocessed as possible...but I don't go crazy with it....I eat whatever I want sometimes..I love sushi...and I will eat the occasional lean cuisine or hot pocket as well. Just wondering what everyone else did for physical training and diet, if anything.
  5. Wow, I just got on board this thread. Sounds like an awesome idea. Sorry I'm late to the party.
  6. Yes I haven't the slightest idea what you referring to
  7. Also, if it will help, I can expound on any info about myself necessary. I think this would not only help me, but maybe there are a few others out there wondering the same thing and this could help them get set up too. Imagine the post count at TL if everyone was a full time trader! LOL
  8. For those that took the plunge and went full time....how did you do it? Did you have money saved up, did you have any bills to worry about, what made you decide it was time to quit the full time job? Were you already independently wealthy or did you just take a big chance and grit your teeth? Just trying to see if there are any suggestions from anyone who's been down the road as to what I should start working towards. Experience of course is the best teacher, but any information I can glean will help shorten the learning curve..... Currently I work full time in the mortgage industry, making decent money, nothing crazy. I work 8 hrs a day, come home and spend another hour or so looking at charts for EOD data trades....then I devote the next 3-4 hours studying and studying and studying some more. Oh yeah, and spending time with my wife. LOL Really ready to start working towards devoting full efforts to trading, and I am willing to take the long road to get there...but I would like any advice on making that first step. THANKS. Thanks in advance for any info.
  9. Yeah just to reiterate, that really helped a lot. For some reason, my brain keeps locking up when I think of this whole Auction Market Theory- probably due to "bad habits" of standard technical analysis...but this video really helped put it into perspective a whole lot better than simply reading about it. By the way, you seem to have a talent for the teaching aspect, if I do say so myself.
  10. yeah really! Hey man awesome video Chris. Thanks a million for the info!
  11. Yeah I get off work in an hour, so I am looking forward to it, especially after all these rave reviews! I'll have to grab some popcorn.
  12. I know between us we will come up with something
  13. Thanks Don. I was here quite some time ago, but took a hiatus...but now I am back.
  14. lol works for me bro. You should set up a donation link like the indicator programmers do so we can hook you up.
  15. Yeah good point, I'll try that when I get home. ha ha I am an MT4 moron, so you'll have to forgive me. So what's this Tokyo challenge I am hearing about?
  16. Yeah it seems saving $150 a month would be very beneficial to the bottom line. I am anxious to hear the answer as well, simply because it helps me get a running start on it all. Right now I am using SMR and Ensign (about to drop ensign though, it's sort of redundant for what I am using it for). I'd like to know what kind of curve I'll be looking at once I make the switch.
  17. Walter, I am having issues getting the breakout box indicator set up...it won't load properly on my MT4...do you know what might be causing this? If not, no worries, I will fool around with it when I get home.
  18. Yeah looks good Blowfish. Thanks. I am always on the lookout for new ideas to test out. My main project now is MP, but P&F reminds me of an old school version of follwing supply and demand, so I am betting they are highly correlated...Thanks for the info!
  19. Walter, you should be good to go with the quicktime download. As soon as I get home from work I am going to check out that video, Tin. Thanks again in advance.
  20. So it seems Sierra Charts is a good direction to lean. Thanks for the info. We should all sign a petition for TinGull and send it to Sierra charts to make it compatible with Macs. LOL
  21. walter you should be able to download quicktime... try http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
  22. Awesome! Cant wait to check it out. Thanks for the help man!
  23. I have similar experiences with FF. It is very inconsistent at times.
  24. Thanks man I will check it out Brownsfan. Good idea. I am kind of dense when it comes to the needs of a day trader...but I would definitely like to give it a shot as finances allow to see if it suits me better. Thanks for helping out.
