  1. You must have stop if you trade. The reason is simple, one flash crash will wipe out your account, you may even have a negative balance.

If your entry is correct, then the chance of you stop getting run over is slim. If you do get stop out constantly, chance are that you have misreaded the market.

  2. I want to know if the [quantity, price modify, cancel, order modify] area after an order is enter or executed be placed on the right side instead of the default left?

Please screen shot for what I am referring.

    Thanks.

  3. Another reason to trader future instead of stock is tax. As of now, the highest rate for profit is 23% for futures and 35% for stocks. That mean for every $100 profit in futures, you have to make $118.50 to have the same after tax profits.

What if you have a loss? Futures allows you take the current year loss against profits from previous 3 years, while stock only allows 3k a year.

  4. Well, so allow me to clarify...... Its not really just about taxes... I'm looking at some big pic fundamentals... Looking at the US, i am convinced that taxes wil go up (govt is broke), over the long term dollar will go down and i would like to be able to trade in a more viable currency like CHF or something similar that is not being inflated away (at least as fast as the dollar, make no mistake, all govt favors inflation)... With the debts being accumulated at the govt level, there is no more palatable solution that i can ascertain than inflating the debt away....

But, there is is no way that i can see to protect my business (ie. trading capital), aside from going overseas (as any diligent business owner would do to protect their business and lively hood)... I am already noticing that inflation is picking up, it may not be apparent in things getting more "expensive" but i do see packages getting smaller while prices remain the same (defacto expensive)..... Another form of invisible inflation.....

Has anyone thought about it that way?

Regardless where you go, the end result is the same. The world is running on fiat currency and guarantee there will be inflation. The problems with US is we have too much debt, bad policy, rewarding bad behaviors, etc etc. If you are profitable, I would advise you to leave this country and denounce your citizenship. Go to country like Singapore where there is no tax for trading. You don't even need to learn another language, they speak English there.

  5. I have received my 1099 from OEC and it looks like they forgot to included my FESX trades. My 1099 shows a loss ~500 but on statement, my loss is almost $1700. What happened to the missing grand?

I have tried to contact them to fix it and the reply I received from them was their 1099 is correct and tell me to seek a tax pro. But they cannot explain where is the missing ~$1200.

For those of you who trade a contract beside that is not denote in your base currency through OEC, please check your 1099.

  6. If SEC going to fix short selling then they need to fix naked short seller. Naked short selling should limit to market makers and if they failed to delivery, they must pay a heavy penalty such as 200% interest.

I saw a HK tv serie years back when a market maker failed to deliver share, he was sent to prison. I think we need a system like this.

  7. The only problem I have is I didn't get any notice when they loss connection with the datafeed. This happened with the Stoxx on Monday 2/23 10:20 to 10:35 EST. I didn't have a position on it, but it would be nice if let their customers know that the connection was lost.

This would be a problem if I have a position on because I minimize OEC after I put on a trade or after the trade is filled. I set up audio for filled and trailing order. If I don't hear anything in 10 to 15 minutes, then I will open OEC again to see if I should exit the position.

Popstock: Orders are reside on their server. The order default is on day. I changed it GTC.

  8. I don't find Haiken Ashi useful. After all, it change direction/color whenever price takes out the lower low of the last 2 bars on up side, and higher high of the last 2 bars on down side.

  9. This doesn't work. I'm not sure it is because of my system or it simply does not work. If set up and click on test, it crashed OEC trader.

In the menu bar choose >Communications > Sound Alerts. There is already an email feature you can set up for different Alerts. I have never used it but it looks simple enough.

  10. I would like to suggest a feature that allow you configure alert to sends out an email or sms when condition(s) are met. Send out email or SMS when an order is executed.

I know most of you don't require something like this because you trade on a much shorter time frame. I find it very difficult now to trade shorter time frame while have a baby at home. So I have to move to a higher time higher time frame. My baby is a light sleeper, so an audio alert is out of the question.

I know there are programs like that. If someone can know a program that does the trick, please let me know.

    Great appreciated.

  11. I wouldn't recommend any foreigner to set up an entity in the US. US is one of the highest tax country in the world. You are better off using another company. You will be much better off in a long run, assume you are profitable.

Have you inquired with IB on opening an account as a Corp. You can live outside the US and still own a corporation here. This might work for you. It might be an extra step but it might be worth it for you.

  12. I really HATE how OEC's DOM works. It's fine if you just use limit order. If you use stop order, chance are you left click on on price and your order were executed. The reason is left click is set to limit order regardless where you click on the DOM. What in the world are their developers thinking? Why would anyone want to place a buy limit order about market price (sell limit below market for short)? That's a market order. If I want a market order, I would just click on buy/sell market.

I hope in the short future they will fix it. I have used few other DOMs and OEC is the only one action this way.
