If you're a beginner start with a slow liquid NYSE stock. Something like GE or PFE. After that move on to something slightly faster like a DIS or HD. Then move on to WMT and AMD.

I use to be a pure Nasdaq guy. But for the past 5 months I been strictly NYSE, a little different the last couple weeks with hybrid system kicking in. But I love the specialist system especially when you get an extra 10-20 cents on price improvement.
