  1. Its a great site, I use it everyday

    Market Clocks

    Hi Mz Vega,

Thanks for the link, I had a look at this site and it does show me the ASX opening times, is Forex market different or are we basing these times on the actual stock market in that country. (I know FX is open the entire week.)

I also found out that the site does not work for EST times. (attached)

I'll should be able to work something out.

    Thanks again.

  2. Hi All,

Could someone tell me what are the current opening and closing times for the following forex markets in GMT time.

Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York. (Are they all nine hours.)

I'm writing a freeware market clock program, which I will later post here for all to use. I know there are lots of these around some in html format while others in binary format.

This program will also have a bar countdown feature, some graphics, market local times and some other features.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  4. Hi Tams,

It's been a while since I posted here on this forum.

If you need to back up data there are two ways of doing this one way is using an external USB hard-drive. The problem with these is redundancy.

Another method which I use myself is you either use an old box with some hard-drives on it or a purchase a new one and install FreeNas its based on Linux and its great. If you want redundancy just add multiple hard drives to the machine. I've got four here 2 TB in a RAID 5 configuration, I also have an UPS machine just in case there are power failures.

Here is a link to the open source site.

FreeNAS 8 | Storage For Open Source

    Hope this helps.

  5. Hi All,

It's been a while since I posted here, haven't given up on this project yet.

Here is a snapshot of it in action.

I have written a chart application to handle the data which is now stored in a MS SQL database.

Early days, but slow as at the moment I'm working on other projects. So a few hours on the weekends is as much time as I can devote.

The application that displays this data is all written by me, I have incorporated Gann techniques into it, so it shows how effective they are and other bits and pieces.

    Happy Trading

  6. Anyone using DG to trade Forex? I've been getting deeper into DG and find that it works really well on the main Forex pairs, my preferred trading vehicles.

    Annie

    Hi Annie,

What time frames have you been trading those Forex pairs? What's your favorite setup?

    Regards

    Simon

  7. Hi Guys,

Can someone help me with a small problem. How do I reference a currency pair in Metatrader, is there a variable for each currency pair that I can reference and use it in my custom indicator?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Regards

    Simon

    Hi Youri,

Good to hear from you, I wish you luck on the full time trading side of things.

I am slowly getting myself into the financial business by acquiring RG146 papers, so maybe I may can work as a broker here in AU land and get more experience that way.

    Time will tell.

  9. Hey Youri or Szymon,

What are you all trading down under. I am trading CL, GC and NG. I also trade some NQ and then swing trade the forex. I am usually done in a few hours of trading. I know a lot of folks in AU and NZ that are traders.

    Hi WorldTrader,

At this stage i am only trading CME currencies, part time as I am running a full time business here. And studying to get my RG146 paper, so i can get into the financial industry here.

    Regards,

    Simon

  10. Hi Youri,

Excellent News, I wish you all the best in the transition to your full time trading.

My folks live in the Upper Coomera area of the Gold Coast.

What software are you using and datafeed. I have been using OpenECry and Multicharts.

I finally took the plunge and purchased the ICOM 92AD hand-held transciever 2m/70cm bands and wide band receieve with D-Star mode. $629 bucks, so far I am impressed.

  11. I am yearning for a 100 % mechanical trading system that is profitable?. Is this possible?

    Thx!

Yes this is possible, a lot of hard work but once you understand how the market works then you can design a very good mechanical system that gives excellent results with profits.

Here is a sample of a system at work using a dummy account. Is uses minimum 20 lots but can be changed to 2,1, etc...

    Good luck

    Regards

    Simon
