  1. The euro slide from 1.3568 high is still underway and there is a risk of deeper drowning towards 1.3410, strong resistance at 1.3520 a violation of that level will state, that the consolidation is over.

  2. USD dropped sharply against the yen in the beggining of the week but then recovered these losses. US releases looked sharp and the improving US economy bodes well for the dollar. At the same time, the Japanese economy has been picking up steam, and if this week’s inflation numbers are strong, the yen could gain ground.

  3. Caterpillar CAT released dismal sales numbers for machines during June, July, and August, suggesting that revenue and most likely profits will be down for the third quarter of 2013

  4. Support stands at the 1,300 level with a violation targeting the 1,272 level. A turn below will turn attention to the 1,250 level and next the 1,215. Its weekly RSI is bearish and pointing lower supporting this view.

The commodity will have to return above the 1,368.00 level to reduce its downside pressure.

  5. The pound posted strong gains following the non-taper shocker from the Fed, but the dollar recovered much of those losses following strong releases last week. Unemployment Claims were solid, and housing and manufacturing releases looked sharp as well. In the UK, Retail sales was a disappointment late in the week, posting a sharp decline.

  6. As i mention in my previous post, the euro managed to reach 1.3250 and closed the week at 1.3293 vs USD. An improving sentiment about hte euro currency probably will drive to higher levels with first target 1.3348.

  7. Comedian Aziz Ansari has decided to release his newest stand-up special straight to Netflix rather than having it premiere in another format before appearing on the popular video streaming platform.

  8. ISE launched mini option contracts on March 18, 2013. The launch included five securities: Google (GOOG), SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY).

If the underlying security trades above $90, there is a possibility of an additional series of mini options. Weekly and quarterly mini options were also introduced by exchanges. Weekly mini options expire within the week compared to the usual one month window. This gives the trader more ability to match the short-term market movement with the option.

A mini option contract has an appended number 7 symbol to its security name ( AAPL7, GOOG7, GLD7, AMZN7, SPY7). Mini options are beneficial to small traders who cannot afford to perform large trades using the standard 100 shares per contract. Risk is managed better as the traders will be able to trade the popular stocks without taking too much from their capital.

  9. Ford recalling about 370,000 model year 2005 to 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town sedans in the US Canada
