  1. One little glitch when using the freeze slope tool. It works fine for trend lines. But if you use TN's trend channel, sometimes the channel will rotate at a fast rate, instead of extending/shortening. If it does that use the end of the other trend line instead.

There's no rhyme or reason, sometimes the LTL does it, sometimes the RTL. And it's not the top or bottom one consistently. Couldn't nail down any consistent pattern. So if grabbing one line is a problem, use the other.

    Hi Ezzy,

In order to lengthen a trend channel without changing the slope, ctrl-click on the first line you drew when annotating the channel, not the cloned line. If you click on the cloned line, you'll get the rotating effect. Usually the trend channel is created by first drawing an RTL, but keep in mind that when you draw a tape to a stitch or OB, the trend channel will be created by first drawing an LTL. This is probably why you didn't see a consistent pattern.

  2. Here is a second version of my 02/24/2010 chart.

    Much better.

    - Spydertrader

In his second version of 2/24 (attached), double eagle's line weights and font sizes seem to indicate that the green container from 1405-1520 on 2/23 is equal in fractal weight to the green container from 1600 on 2/23 to 0955 on 2/24. The line weights and font sizes also seem to indicate that the maroon (brown?) container from 1000-1025 is equal in fractal weight to the other two containers.

Are these 3 containers actually on the same fractal? Or would it be more accurate to say that the containers 1600-955 and 1000-1025 are smaller fractals which are building P1-2 and P2-3 of the teal container, and the teal container is equal in fractal weight to the 1405-1520 green container?

It's probably clear that I'm considering a couple different interpretations of Spydertrader's "Much better" comment. Thanks in advance for any clues.

  3. We now have a group of Laterals where we can easily differentiate.

    1. Bar 1 Direction - Dom vs Non-Dom

    2. 'Forming Bar' Lateral boundary - Dom vs Non-Dom Side

    3. Volume (all bars)

If it helps, you might try sketching things out on paper in an effort to 'see' the various situations which develop. However, do yourself a favor and start with a Three Bar Formation before moving onto any other types. Doing so, you'll soon see how many of the possible permutations do not have any effect in the overall outcome.

Attached is an attempt to list all possible permutations of a 3-bar Lateral Formation which conforms to the drill. I found 48 possible permutations, based on the above 3 characteristics. Next I'll try to determine which of these do not have any effect on the overall outcome. After that I will proceed to focusing on Order of Events and, finally, Context.

  4. Guess they don't read their own forums. Maybe you could refer him to this link: https://www.genesisft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=753&start=0

The wish list thread has a few other items as well, tool bar placement and resizing the DOM ladder, etc.

After reading traverse's post, I sent that link to Genesis support. As a reminder, I also forwarded an email exchange between myself and Genesis support which took place in September. At that time, I was told that the Gap Removal Tool was already on the development list. To me that implies that someone else had already requested it before I did. Clearly, multiple people have requested this tool. Richard's claim that traverse's request is the only such request seen by Genesis support is confusing, to say the least.

  5. To users of Trade Navigator:

On Genesis' forum, there has been posted a note in the wish-list section about a 'gap-removal' functionality. I urge you to support this initiative by posting your opinion as well. www.Genesisft.com • View topic - Gap removal

Thanks, FJK. I contacted Genesis about this issue several weeks ago. I was told that a gap removal tool is on their "to-do" list, but that Genesis' developers were not actively working on it at that time. Hopefully your request on the wishlist forum will lead them to give it a higher priority. I'll add my name to the list once they process my registration to the forum.

  6. I haven't posted anything in quite a while so I thought I'd post my chart for today.

The olive up tape represents P1-2 of the first 5 min traverse of a new up channel, which began at 1615 Friday. The previous red channel RTL is just visible in the left hand side of the chart, as is the previous pink traverse RTL.

I will have to adjust my view if the market proves it wrong tomorrow...
