  1. Tom,

Have a friend who has an account with infinity/Transact, but has not used the live platform for quite a while as he has other spreadbetting accounts, is he in any danger of loosing the balance in his account i.e does the company after some point in time close the account and the client kisses goodbye to his account balance.

    Hi Monad,

You said your friend has an account with TransAct / Infinity. There is a difference. If your friend opened an account directly with TransAct he is being charged a monthly fee of $400 which over time will reduce an inactive account to zero balance. If your friend opened an account with Infinity Futures then the monthly fee is waived. Your friend should contact his Infinity broker or TransAct directly for further assistance.

  2. Jack,

To answer your question you need to keep in mind the different order types and how they are handled. As far as I know Market Orders & limit orders are sent immediately to the exchange but certain platforms might be faster at getting orders to the exchange than others. It all has to do with software and routing technologies.

Stops are handled differently. Some firms choose to hold stop orders on their own stop servers. They wait until the stop order is triggered and then send the orders to the exchange for execution. The potential problem would be failure to execute an order if the stop server went down. You also might experience more slippage on a stop order being sent to the exchange for execution vs a stop residing natively at the exchange.

When I say "direct connect platform" I am refering to the handful of platforms that send all order types including stops directly to the exchange where they reside until canceled or filled. (AT, Zenfire, TT, are examples)

  3. Jack,

I would refer you to my response to TLAs post. The allegation you refer to is completely false. There was never any complaint filed by the firm you mentioned and anyone is free to check the NFA website to confirm. That incident never happened. My guess is that the post was by some anonymous poster on another website slinging mud. It happens. Having said that this thread should be about Zenfire which I actually think is a great data feed and have said so in the past. Thats all - I'm gone.

    Sincerely,

    Tom

  4. TLA,

Again I would like to say I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the demo and if I knew the details of your situation I would try to help. I did PM you for details of your problem but you did not respond.

The demo might have been down on Sunday I don't know. I know the live platform was up because I have live customers who traded Sunday. I've been with Infinity for 4 years and have never seen a live platform outage of that type. The demo does not have the same degree of infrastructure commitment the live platform does. The AT simulator is meant to mimic the live platform not exactly duplicate it.

Reading a couple of the other posts on this thread I would just like to say this. I have never been critical of any other firm, data vendor or broker. I try to let the Infinity AT product and my support & service speak for itself. There are a few live traders on this forum who have expressed positive views of Infinity AT. They should also be free to express their opinions without ridicule.

TLA you are fairly recent to this forum and you don't know me very well, so I'll let most of what you say go without comment other than to say that there were no complaints filed at the NFA or any other regulatory agency about the alleged complaint and any assertion to the contrary is without merit. You can see for yourself at National Futures Association - NFA is a regulatory service provider for the derivatives markets

Now I also know that message boards and forums are places where people are free to express their opinions and even rant a little if they want. So keep it up! I enjoy reading your posts and learning from you all.

My purpose here is to assist anyone who needs help with the Infinity AT platform. If you need help let me know and I will try my best to help. I think most here know I mean that sincerely.

  5. I was previously using Sierra Charts with the Transact DataFeed. I noticed problems with missing data in the charts and realized that the Transact datafeed is unreliable. Since then, I have switched to Ninja Zen Fire. I am unable to figure out how to set pivot point parameters with Zen Fire. Has anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions?

    TLA,

The Infinity AT trading platform & associated TransAct data provide real-time unfiltered tick data. Our data is also completely free for live customers - no matter how many exchanges you connect to. Believe me when I tell you there are only a select few that offer data this good. Most offer bundled, filtered data, and most are not direct connect. Again if you were having problems with your data the best course of action would be to ask for help. Give me a call or PM me and I will try to help you.

    Best regards,

    Tom

  6. Hi TLA,

Sorry you had a problem with the platform. What exactly was the issue with the datafeed and what time were you trying to "trade" on Sunday?

Were you using a demo or trading live?

I personally have over a hundred customers trading daily on AT with no problems, and our firm has many times that. Before you flame the platform why don't you ask for help? Maybe we can fix the problem for you.

  7. The below feature should be added to Infinity execution platform:

DOM always on top (tick / untick)

    Stick DOM / Unstick DOM

Lock DOM in a given position / Unlock DOM from a given position

The above would be usefull when one trades multiple symbols at a time with a multiple monitor set-up.

    Regards

    Hi Tressor,

To set dome always on top, enter your username, password & account and then check the boxs "Set to Topmost" then click OK to login. This will keep all DOMs on top of other windows. Also when you do minimize your DOMs the will line up on top of the task bar. Then you can quickly call up any DOM you want.

Also in main properties dialog check box titled "auto focus" and "quick click" this will ensure any DOM you put your mouse over will instantly become the active window and you will be able to trade with one click.

Give that a try. I hope it helps.

    Thanks.

    Tom

  8. No, it varies exchange to exchange you need to check with your broker to be sure. From memory and unless its changed a stop will be held at your brokers or client platform, not on Globex. Eurex is the other way round. Over time exchanges are adding more order types but it used to be quite sobering to see how few are handled natively.

You would probably be surprised to find some exchanges don't even support market orders, they are converted to limit orders with wide limits :).

Believe what you please but I would check personally :)

Edit: OK I checked for you (senility makes you question yourself sometimes) Globex does not support stops or market orders nativey, so there you go. (guess I should have trusted my memory)

Globex supports "Stops with protection" & "Market orders with protection"

Stop orders at CME Group are implemented using a “Stop with Protection” approach. Unlike a conventional Stop order, where customers

are at risk of having their orders filled at extreme prices, Stop with Protection orders are filled within a predefined range of prices (the protected range). A Stop with Protection order is triggered when the designated price is traded on the market. The order then enters the order book as a Limit order with the limit price equal to the trigger price, plus or minus the predefined protected range.

Market orders at CME Group are implemented using a “Market with Protection” approach. Unlike a conventional Market order, where customers are at risk of having their orders filled at extreme prices, Market with Protection orders are filled within a predefined range of prices (the protected range)

  9. Hi Rag,

It is possible to fine tune the feed based on your specific system settings. It is also possible to revert to the prior feed if necessary. One of these steps will fix the problem.

PM me with your email address and I will contact you with specific steps.

  10. Have you tried this, does the software then connect seamlessly to the datafeed from Infinity/Transact trading platform, if so do you then have to pay exchange fees, if so how much for say ESmini per month and to whom. If you trading this instrument, what exact symbol would be inserted in the charting package to download for example a 15min chart or a daily chart.

  13. Hello HAKUNA,

I feed my MC with ASCII files. I do not trade US exchanges yet, so I cannot answer your questions. Right now I am looking for a broker and data feed provider.

Look at some of these videos:

    http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Trader618&view=videos

Transact feed seems to be very slow compared to zenfire and xtrader.

    Hi Tresor,

I don't what specific factors were involved with the production of that video, but that specific video shows a previous version of Infinity AT. The new version is fast, and as noted in previous posts it's free.

You can see for yourself, the demo is free for 30 days. Just email me at t.duffy@infinityfutures.com for a free 30 day demo.

  16. I am very curious about this comment. I have been using Infinity/Sierra for charting for over a year now and the majority of my strategies are based around MP. What exactly does Sierra not have that you would need when talking about MP?

Sierra charts seem to work pretty well for the vast majority of Infinity users. There will be additional options available moving forward with V3.

    Best regards,

    Tom

  17. Hey Gang,

I was wondering if there were any Infinity AT users here?

I love the AT Platform. Its fast and stable, and I love the ease of use. I am curious what type of order entry strategy for trading the ES is used. I Enter at support or resistance and use a 4,8,12 tick exit with a 8 tick breakeven stop. Stop moves to breakeven after 5 ticks. This works OK for me, but I feel like I could be doing better. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Again I wish Infinity had better charting options...

I hope Infinity Tom is listening.

    Jean

    Jean,

Thanks for your post. I like your strategy and you are right - with AT you can easily adjust your targets or stops and keep the OCO functionality active.

Since with v3 you now have a non-expiring simulator you can easily switch back and forth and test different entry / exit scenarios on the SIM before putting those strategies into a live environment. You can adjust your break-even levels, or you can try using a trailing stop.

Also in regards to your charting options PM me. I have some good news for you.

    Best regards,

    Tom

  18. Jean,

Your thread is a wishlist for a platform, yet the only wish is 'better charting'. There's nothing there to help anyone that might be reading this. You need to provide details if you want any help whatsover.

As for the trading strategy, it has nothing to do w/ AT. You are talking about how to exit a trade. That is not platform dependent. Do you just need the AT guys to develop a way to get you out at the optimal level? :roll eyes:

As you've seen in my OEC thread, I ask users to give SPECIFIC details of what they'd like done. I cannot go to OEC and say 'make better charting'. That's a useless request to anyone. That accomplishes nothing. What does 'better charting' mean to you? I'm going to guess the guys at AT are not mind readers therefore they have no idea what you mean here.

If you can't provide details though, just leave it at 'better charting' and maybe they can guess what you mean and come up w/ something at some point in time. If not, you can come back and tell everyone that the guys at AT didn't listen to your request. ;)

    BF,

I think TraderJean is expressing a concern about the robustness of available charting platforms that directly write to the AT data feed. We do have many Sierra & Ensign users and for many of those users that option works just fine.

The good news for Jean and others who wish for an alternative is that the AT v3 is currently being written into additional high-quality charting platforms and will provide some additional options for those users.

    Best regards,

    Tom

  19. Soultrader,

Exactly, AT has the automated OCO order routing tools. My exits are predetermined, although they can be manually manipulated if i choose. My challenge, and i bet this is shared by a few is when to get in a trade, not when to get out. I am simply looking for more intuitive charts that accept the AT data feed. I am getting into MP, and sierra just doesn't cut it for me in that regard.

    Thanks much,

    Jean (Tired going to bed)

    Hi Jean,

I appreciate the kind posts regarding the Infinity AT platform. There are many AT users that are very happy with Sierra charts and at $26 per month it can be a very good option for those users.

Moving forward with AT v3 there will soon be additional charting options including advanced functionality for Market profile users. Please PM me -- I will be happy to discuss this further with you, or if you would like to contact your broker directly please do so.

    Best regards,

    Tom
