The Art of War

Sun-Tzu- The Art of War

Considering this was written around 500BC it's amazing how some of the ideas from the book can be applied to modern day trading.

''All warfare (trading) is based on deception''

''According as circumstances are favorable, one should modify one's plans''

''He will win who knows when to fight (trade) and when not to fight''

''If you know the enemy (market) and know yourself, you need not fear the result of 100 battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.
If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle''

''The consummate leader (trader) strictly adheres to method and discipline, thus it is in his power to control success''

''In respect of military (trading) method,we have,firstly,measurement, secondly,estimation of quantity,thirdly,calculat ion,fourthly,balancing of chances,fifthly,victory.' '

''Ponder and deliberate before you make a move''

''Do not linger in dangerously isolated positions''

Re: The Art of War

The Art of War is indeed very applicable to trading. I think it's excellent, but probably a hard read for many.

Re: The Art of War

Personally I believe that there are more practical reads than the AofW to help with trading.

You'd probably get as much out of a gardening book as you would the AofW as far as trading is concerned.
