Gold prices rose Wednesday, as investors ditched the metal's traditional hedge, the dollar, and set out in search for riskier assets, including stocks, currencies and precious metals.

Silver has been unable to go upside and cross 57500-58500 in last few week, and we have seen big fall. It made a base of 52160 but some short covering resulted in it closing at 53458. Now in this week, we may consider resistance at 56500-57000, downside support exit at 53200-52500, break and trade below, it will further downside target at 50000-495000-48500. Close above 58500, it will show real move but chances are very remote.

February contract was trading at Rs 27646.00 down Rs 4, or 0.01%. It touched an intraday high of Rs 27654.00 and an intraday low of Rs 27605.00.

Crude oil futures rose above USD100-a-barrel in thin year-end trading volumes on Tuesday, as market sentiment improved after data showed U.S. consumer confidence rose to an eight-month high in December.

In Silver sell off continued at higher levels. Last week it was unable to cross 54000 and made a low of 52544, which indicates small trading range and traders are not comfortable in either side. Strength of rupee will decide the trend of this commodity.

MCX GOLDGUINEA March contract was trading at Rs 22249.00 up Rs 39.00, or 0.17%. It touched an intraday high of Rs 22299.00 and an intraday low of Rs 22210.00.
