Loading up EURGBP longs after UK retail sales missed and Eurozone PMIs beat. In at 0.7925 SL at 0.7900. Targeting 0.8150.

Short positioning in the pair is pretty big and it looks possible that sentiment in both currencies could swing a bit in the other direction.

– US Dollar Index: The long position in the DI grew marginally from 24K to 24.7K. Large spec dominate the trade in the DI and they hold 71.2% of the long side and 39.2% of the sell side. The small specs are a 4 ratio long.

– Euro (EUR/USD): Trade is the euro and the resultant OI was already large in the euro, but increased by over 10% to 397K. Most of this increase came from the large specs who increased their short position. They are now a 2.6 ratio short the euro. Trade in the spreading/option category also increased by 5.8K of delta adjusted positions. The total spec short position in the euro is up to 132K from 106.2K last week. Market action has rewarded the shorts.

The ups and downs are bulls and bears fighting each other, the bears eventually lost because, they were exhausted and fresh momemtum buyers came in massively at 13385, bears got killed at 13400, 13408, 13435....each successive bear losses triggered massive stoplosses to bring us where we are....

i think next week, can see a retest of 13408 or 13400 if we are lucky.

4H is the one that makes me a bit unsure, looking only at that we can see a W formation that should target at least 1,3450 and 1,3510 in extension, but price got rejected quite early from 1,3432, not a brutal rejection but still with som force. This together with the daily gives me reason to suspect a new test of the lower regions or even lower as we are moving away to slow from the bottom. Hourly gives bearish divergence , it's not all bearish as it could be seen as hourly is gathering force to that extra bit higher.

Euro Specs have extended their short position in the euro taking it to almost 183K from last week's 157.2K. Large specs are a 3.5 ratio short, while the mall spec are a 2.1 short. Two week ago the short was 132K. The interesting thing about the additional 50K of shorts is this failed to take the market much lower. Who are the buyers? Spreading/options are 9.9% of the total OI which is up to 450K. The spec short in the euro is now over 3 Trillion USD.

The euro has support at 1.3330, but a break there leads to a test of 1.3290 support from November of last year followed by a possible double bottom test at 1.3100. On the upside only a move through the 1.3500 level negates the bearish bias and puts the pair back to neutral stance

On Thursday August 14 there will be a flood of data pouring from the EU, mostly pertaining to the anticipated rate of growth. The estimate for EU GDP growth is forecast to drop to 0.7% from the previous estimate of 0.9%. With the big spec short, there is that possibility of a short squeeze at any time. Still, the outlook for the eurozone economy remains bleak. Unless there is a dramatic expansion of the money supply, which is bearish the euro, their economy will continue to deflate, which also seems negative.

EUR/USD forecast for the week of August 18, 2014,

The EUR/USD pair initially fell during the course of the week, but for the third week in a row found support below, and ended up forming a hammer. Because of that, we believe that the Euro is about to get a bounce, not only because of this chart, but because of some other EUR related charts. With that, we think that we are heading to the 1.35 handle first, and then will have to make more significant decisions at that level. In the meantime, we would not be interested in selling this market until we get below the 1.33 level.

The EUR/USD continues to suffer from the down gap which is now in its third day of not being filled. Generally such technical conditions are very bearish but the first up day in nearly a week suggests that the EUR/USD may fill the gap soon and possibly retake 1.3250 area which would alleviate some of the bearish pressure. A break below 1.3150 however would open a new round of selling towards 1.3100

I think that if it breaks through the resistance at 1.3200 it might reach 1.3250, but after that I too think it will probably start falling again and reach 1.3100.

It appears of the market is in fact going to head to the 1.30 level given enough time. I also think that the real support is down at the 1.28 level, so without a doubt we are very bearish of this market.

today is the euro's biggest one day fall since late 2011 - the height of the eurozone crisis

The market responded negatively to ECB decision to cut the interest rate from 0.15% to 0.05 , we have 200 pip fall on the EUR/USD in 1 day and i think there is more fall to come. Same goes for GBP/USD. Next week is gonna be further bearish.

Today’s decision by the ECB to increase monetary stimulus triggered the largest one-day decline in the EUR/USD since 2011. The central bank widened the gap between EZ and U.S. monetary policy by cutting interest rates another 10bp and pre-announcing an ABS program. By opting for the one-two punch of rate cut plus ABS purchases the central bank sent a very strong message to the market about how they are worried about the outlook for the Eurozone economy and committed to doing whatever it takes to promote inflation and growth even if it means introducing new measures when previous programs have not even been rolled out. The ECB made it clear that they maintain an easing bias whereas Fed President Mester confirmed that the U.S. asset purchase program will end in October. Non-farm payrolls are scheduled for release tomorrow and chances are job growth accelerated in August. We are looking for healthy job growth with payrolls between 230k to 250k but as long as payrolls exceed 150k, which is significantly lower than the 230k consensus forecast, the Fed will remain on course to end QE. With the divergence in Eurozone and U.S. data and monetary policy expected to widen further this month due to the prospect of a stronger NFP report and positive FOMC meeting, I expect EUR/USD to drop by at least another 200 pips to 1.2750.

This monthly/weekly downtrend taking us all the way to 1.25 possibly below to 1.22 which will be a weekly support. This trend is expected to continue through the rest of the year or rate change whichever comes first. Hold ur seats tight for a bearish ride..:D

      Hi GUYS, Happy Wednesday!
I'd like to share daily forex analysis from Followme, hope this information helps your trading.
Today, Let's focus on AUD and NZD.
AUDUSD is trading at 0.6761; the instrument is moving below Ichimoku Cloud, thus indicating a descending tendency. The markets could indicate that the price may test the cloud’s downside border at 0.6765 and then resume moving downwards to reach 0.6635. Another signal to confirm further descending movement is the price’s rebounding from the descending channel’s upside border. However, the scenario that implies further decline may be canceled if the price breaks the cloud’s upside border and fixes above 0.6825. In this case, the pair may continue growing towards 0.6905.

NZDUSD is trading at 0.6447; the instrument is moving below Ichimoku Cloud, thus indicating a descending tendency. The markets could indicate that the price may test the cloud’s downside border at 0.6455 and then resume moving downwards to reach 0.6315. Another signal to confirm further descending movement is the price’s rebounding from the resistance level. However, the scenario that implies further decline may be canceled if the price breaks the cloud’s upside border and fixes above 0.6525. In this case, the pair may continue growing towards 0.6645.

So I've been 18 for about 4 months, since I turned 18 I started up an account, and basically thought I was doing amazing because of beginners luck, put in some of my savings and managed to do well, some days I would make £200, one day I even made £900, after time I lost my profits and made a loss as well. I've realised I need to spend the time analysing the market and making technical judgments. I'm trying to read more and spend a lot of my time looking at the charts. is there any advice people can give me. and is making 5% a week a realistic goal to set myself? before anyone assumes that im looking for a get rich quick scheme, im certainly not, I see every loss ive made as a lesson and ensure that I learn from each mistake I make.
any advice about indicators, strategies, how to analyse the market, or even analysing earning reports would help me.

Firebird is an indicator to identify the price spikes in the market. Firebird indicator first calculates a 10-period moving average, then shifts this moving average a certain percentage above and below the 10-period moving average. The shifted averages are drawn on chart as the red and green line. When price touches these lines, price spike is identified. Usually after a price spike, the trend reverses for some time. The indicator can be used to take advantage of this price behaviors. In daily chart usually the 10 period MA is shifted by 2 percent to form the price bands. On lower time frames like Hourly, Four Hour a smaller percentage price shift is used like 0.5% . The important consideration here is most of the price bars must be contained within the upper and lower bands.
When price reaches above the upper red band, a sell position is opened. When price reaches the lower green band, buy position is opened. Trades can be managed with proper stop loss and take profit. In the picture, Firebird indicator is attached to daily chart of EUR/USD with 2% shift on MA. Note that almost all price bars are within the price bands. And when price extends beyond these bands, price trend reverses and comes back into the bands.

    • Date: 25th April 2024. Investors Monitor a Potential Japanese Intervention, and upcoming Tech Earnings. Meta stocks top earnings expectations, but revenue guidance for the next 6 months triggers significant selloff. Meta stocks decline 15.00% and the Magnificent Seven also trade lower. Japanese Authorities are on watch and most market experts predict the Japanese Federal Government will intervene once again. The Japanese Yen is the day’s worst performing currency while the Australian Dollar continues to top the charts. The US Dollar trades 0.10% lower, but this afternoon’s performance is likely to be dependent on the US GDP. USA100 – Meta Stocks Fall 15% On the Next 6-Months Guidance The NASDAQ has declined 1.51% over the past 24 hours, unable to maintain momentum from Monday and Tuesday. Technical analysts advise the decline is partially simply a break in the bullish momentum and the asset continues to follow a bullish correction pattern. However, if the decline continues throughout the day, the retracement scenario becomes a lesser possibility. In terms of indications and technical analysis, most oscillators, and momentum-based signals point to a downward price movement. The USA100 trades below the 75-Bar EMA, below the VWAP and the RSI hovers above 40.00. All these factors point towards a bearish trend. The bearish signals are also likely to strengthen if the price declines below $17,295.11. The stock which is experiencing considerably large volatility is Meta which has fallen more than 15.00%. The past quarter’s earnings beat expectations and according to economists, remain stable and strong. Earnings Per Share beat expectations by 8.10% and revenue was as expected. However, company expenses significantly rose in the past quarter and the guidance for the second half of the year is lower than previous expectations. These two factors have caused investors to consider selling their shares and cashing in their profits. Meta’s decline is one of the main causes for the USA100’s bearish trend. CFRA Senior Analyst, Angelo Zino, advises the selloff may be a slight over reaction based on earnings data. If Meta stocks rise again, investors can start to evaluate a possible upward correction. However, a concern for investors is that more and more companies are indicating caution for the second half of the year. The price movements will largely now depend on Microsoft and Alphabet earnings tonight after market close. Microsoft is the most influential stock for the NASDAQ and Alphabet is the third. The two make up 14.25% of the overall index. If the two companies also witness their stocks decline after the earnings reports, the USA100 may struggle to gain upward momentum. EURJPY – Will Japan Intervene Again? In the currency market, the Japanese Yen remains within the spotlight as investors believe the Japanese Federal Government is likely to again intervene. The Federal Government has previously intervened in the past 12 months which caused a sharp rise in the Yen before again declining. The government opted for this option in an attempt to hinder a further decline. Volatility within the Japanese Yen will also depend on today’s US GDP reading and tomorrow’s Core PCE Price Index. However, investors will more importantly pay close attention to the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy. Investors will be keen to see if the central bank believes it is appropriate to again hike in 2024 as well as comment regarding inflation and the economy. In terms of technical analysis, breakout levels can be considered as areas where the exchange rate may retrace or correct. Breakout levels can be seen at 166.656 and 166.333. However, the only indicators pointing to a decline are the RSI and similar oscillators which advise the price is at risk of being “overbought”. Always trade with strict risk management.
