Accurate Forex Entries

Recommended Posts

When it comes to entries, the usage of various tools such as support and resistance, pivot points, fibonacci and even camarilla come to mind. While they do show you potential points for entries, they do not, however, show you a more specific area for entries.

With experienced traders, how do you guys isolate a specific point for an accurate entry?

How much more specific can you get than a specific price?

Your S/R level is your specific point, your pivot is specific, your 61.8 fib is specific, how can you be more specific?

Do you mean specific?

For instance, on 1/17/2012 at the end of the US session, my system gave me a buy signal for the next day. It was, indeed, a definite buy, but what is a sure way to know that the buy area was in the 1.5330 area?

That depends on your system I think...If your system gave a buy signal then you should enter the trade...If you will not follow it, then why would you need it :)

If you set your targets, that would make things easier for you...

If it was that simple, would I be here? ;)

My system simply tells me the estimated range and that the momentum is in favor of buying, but it does not tell specifically where to buy - that's the true dilemma I am having.

:) there is no "one shot one kill"

You may not be able to find perfect entry points, don't even bother because I think nobody could that. There were times I missed perfect moves because I was waiting for better entry points and there were times it could be more profitable if I waited a couple of hours more...

Anyway, things depend on your system (and the time frame) and the points that you got the signals...If you get a buy signal but the price is around a resistance level, you may choose to wait for a better entry level.

I am not looking for the perfect entry, but a specific area that shows me where to concentrate. I know it's not possible to know the absolute, exact point to enter. For instance, in today's case with the GBP/USD, my system gave me a buy signal. I am not looking to find out that 1.55275 was the lowest price of the day and should be where I should enter. Rather, I am looking for a specific, but general area of where to focus. Using today's example, the 1.5530-1.5540 area would have been an excellent area to enter - get my drift?

As for you saying that nobody can do that, a fund manager I used to work with years ago did a similar way in finding entries (though he did not want to tell me how to do it).

From the recent posts, it might be best I spend my time somewhere else.

I got your point :)

I think you should try s/r, trendlines, fibos, candlestick patterns to find better entry points then. If you look at the current charts eurusd, gbpusd, usdchf, usdcad, you can see that they tested the s/r-trend line after a breakout. Once the trend is established, it wouldn't change so fast. The thing is the price movements are not the same all the time. It depends on many elements. Sometimes you see a pullback, sometimes you don't. You should analyze the power of the momentum and predict the next move. That is why I can't tell you a single, unique solution. You may also consider opening multiple positions (for example: 0.5 lot when your system gives a signal and another 0.5 lot when the pair tests the s/r level).

Yep, as I mentioned in my original post, I have gone through many of those indicators. They show you potential places where to enter, but not specific areas on where to concentrate. Plus, I deal with day-to-day trading and s/r levels have proven to be quite dynamic. This is a tough challenge, but the key is just doing more research, especially since it's the only factor I need to finish.

......good idea, you might want to buy yourself a dictionary while you're at it.

Sure thing, but be sure to attend a class on ethics - you clearly need it.

      Hi GUYS, Happy Wednesday!
I'd like to share daily forex analysis from Followme, hope this information helps your trading.
Today, Let's focus on AUD and NZD.
AUDUSD is trading at 0.6761; the instrument is moving below Ichimoku Cloud, thus indicating a descending tendency. The markets could indicate that the price may test the cloud’s downside border at 0.6765 and then resume moving downwards to reach 0.6635. Another signal to confirm further descending movement is the price’s rebounding from the descending channel’s upside border. However, the scenario that implies further decline may be canceled if the price breaks the cloud’s upside border and fixes above 0.6825. In this case, the pair may continue growing towards 0.6905.

NZDUSD is trading at 0.6447; the instrument is moving below Ichimoku Cloud, thus indicating a descending tendency. The markets could indicate that the price may test the cloud’s downside border at 0.6455 and then resume moving downwards to reach 0.6315. Another signal to confirm further descending movement is the price’s rebounding from the resistance level. However, the scenario that implies further decline may be canceled if the price breaks the cloud’s upside border and fixes above 0.6525. In this case, the pair may continue growing towards 0.6645.

So I've been 18 for about 4 months, since I turned 18 I started up an account, and basically thought I was doing amazing because of beginners luck, put in some of my savings and managed to do well, some days I would make £200, one day I even made £900, after time I lost my profits and made a loss as well. I've realised I need to spend the time analysing the market and making technical judgments. I'm trying to read more and spend a lot of my time looking at the charts. is there any advice people can give me. and is making 5% a week a realistic goal to set myself? before anyone assumes that im looking for a get rich quick scheme, im certainly not, I see every loss ive made as a lesson and ensure that I learn from each mistake I make.
any advice about indicators, strategies, how to analyse the market, or even analysing earning reports would help me.

Firebird is an indicator to identify the price spikes in the market. Firebird indicator first calculates a 10-period moving average, then shifts this moving average a certain percentage above and below the 10-period moving average. The shifted averages are drawn on chart as the red and green line. When price touches these lines, price spike is identified. Usually after a price spike, the trend reverses for some time. The indicator can be used to take advantage of this price behaviors. In daily chart usually the 10 period MA is shifted by 2 percent to form the price bands. On lower time frames like Hourly, Four Hour a smaller percentage price shift is used like 0.5% . The important consideration here is most of the price bars must be contained within the upper and lower bands.
When price reaches above the upper red band, a sell position is opened. When price reaches the lower green band, buy position is opened. Trades can be managed with proper stop loss and take profit. In the picture, Firebird indicator is attached to daily chart of EUR/USD with 2% shift on MA. Note that almost all price bars are within the price bands. And when price extends beyond these bands, price trend reverses and comes back into the bands.

    • Date: 25th April 2024. Investors Monitor a Potential Japanese Intervention, and upcoming Tech Earnings. Meta stocks top earnings expectations, but revenue guidance for the next 6 months triggers significant selloff. Meta stocks decline 15.00% and the Magnificent Seven also trade lower. Japanese Authorities are on watch and most market experts predict the Japanese Federal Government will intervene once again. The Japanese Yen is the day’s worst performing currency while the Australian Dollar continues to top the charts. The US Dollar trades 0.10% lower, but this afternoon’s performance is likely to be dependent on the US GDP. USA100 – Meta Stocks Fall 15% On the Next 6-Months Guidance The NASDAQ has declined 1.51% over the past 24 hours, unable to maintain momentum from Monday and Tuesday. Technical analysts advise the decline is partially simply a break in the bullish momentum and the asset continues to follow a bullish correction pattern. However, if the decline continues throughout the day, the retracement scenario becomes a lesser possibility. In terms of indications and technical analysis, most oscillators, and momentum-based signals point to a downward price movement. The USA100 trades below the 75-Bar EMA, below the VWAP and the RSI hovers above 40.00. All these factors point towards a bearish trend. The bearish signals are also likely to strengthen if the price declines below $17,295.11. The stock which is experiencing considerably large volatility is Meta which has fallen more than 15.00%. The past quarter’s earnings beat expectations and according to economists, remain stable and strong. Earnings Per Share beat expectations by 8.10% and revenue was as expected. However, company expenses significantly rose in the past quarter and the guidance for the second half of the year is lower than previous expectations. These two factors have caused investors to consider selling their shares and cashing in their profits. Meta’s decline is one of the main causes for the USA100’s bearish trend. CFRA Senior Analyst, Angelo Zino, advises the selloff may be a slight over reaction based on earnings data. If Meta stocks rise again, investors can start to evaluate a possible upward correction. However, a concern for investors is that more and more companies are indicating caution for the second half of the year. The price movements will largely now depend on Microsoft and Alphabet earnings tonight after market close. Microsoft is the most influential stock for the NASDAQ and Alphabet is the third. The two make up 14.25% of the overall index. If the two companies also witness their stocks decline after the earnings reports, the USA100 may struggle to gain upward momentum. EURJPY – Will Japan Intervene Again? In the currency market, the Japanese Yen remains within the spotlight as investors believe the Japanese Federal Government is likely to again intervene. The Federal Government has previously intervened in the past 12 months which caused a sharp rise in the Yen before again declining. The government opted for this option in an attempt to hinder a further decline. Volatility within the Japanese Yen will also depend on today’s US GDP reading and tomorrow’s Core PCE Price Index. However, investors will more importantly pay close attention to the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy. Investors will be keen to see if the central bank believes it is appropriate to again hike in 2024 as well as comment regarding inflation and the economy. In terms of technical analysis, breakout levels can be considered as areas where the exchange rate may retrace or correct. Breakout levels can be seen at 166.656 and 166.333. However, the only indicators pointing to a decline are the RSI and similar oscillators which advise the price is at risk of being “overbought”. Always trade with strict risk management.
