Hello I am a novice trader and am just getting involved in trading. I'm interested in trading stocks related to medical marijuana companies or companies that do research with medical marijuana. I've been using stock screeners to start selecting a few stocks but I'm not really sure what industry medical marijuana falls under. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hey folks!

I'd like to introduce myself - my name is Rico and I'm here to observe and take in all I can regarding the art of day trading.

A little background - I did a little day trading briefly when I was very young during my high school years utilizing "WizeTrade" as a support tool. Even at that young age I realized that of course to not FULLY depend on it, but rather just as a tool to evaluate charts and real time data, as I knew it wasn't a "cruise control" software I'd get rich easy from. Despite this, my naiveness and greed at that young age impeded my success.

I haven't looked into it in too much detail as of yet as I'd first like to educate myself on the subject again before I practice with some paper trading, but I have seen some commercials where online platforms such as E-Trade now offer real time charts and such. I've been a member of automotive forums since 2001 so I have understand the usual forum etiquette (do a search, you noob!). I've also recently returned to a university to finish my degree so I'll have limited time in the morning to work the market, once I get to it.

Looking forward to learning from all of you!

Rico

When people use the term "day trading", they mean the act of buying and selling a stock within the same day. Day traders seek to make profits by leveraging large amounts of capital to take advantage of small price movements in highly liquid stocks or indexes. Here we look at some common day trading strategies that can be used by retail traders.

Entry Strategies

Certain stocks are ideal candidates for day trading. A typical day trader looks for two things in a stock: liquidity and volatility. Liquidity allows you to enter and exit a stock at a good price (i.e. tight spreads and low slippage). Volatility is simply a measure of the expected daily price range - the range in which a day trader operates. More volatility means greater profit or loss.

I guess Rico first you should enter this market and then ask for more reviews.

Generally speaking i don't understand why you guys trading on BInary and not forex.

Obviously Binary its pure gamble, how you find a trend if the option is ranged by time more like minutes, better go to online casino.

Hello to all! I have been trading stocks for a couple of years, but never with any tech strategy. Just trying to follow the trend. I am eager to learn, and I see there are many tutorials here. I am with TD Ameritrade, and Scottrade, but don,t use Scottrade much anymore as TD seems to offer much more. I was thinking about taking a course with Technitrader, but the more I research the web, I see that there are vast amounts of knowledge out here. and many experienced traders to learn from. I follow stock twits, seeking alpha, and I,m looking into trading view, which I find interesting. To be quite honest, I am overwhelmed by the vast amount of info out here and I think I need to slow it down and just focus on a few basic things at a time. I,m trying to learn Think or Swim, but it is quite a lot there. I,m also with Marketclub, but I,m not sure if I am going to renew. seems like some decent advice with trade triangles and such, but it is always lagging real time with equities. Any way sorry this is so long. Any advice is appreciated

As someone who is just starting, it's a good thing to explore everything. I realize that statement seems like not much help, but I think it's good to take it all in.

You may want to consider how your mind works now. Are you more analytical, or more intuitive? The more analytical tend to be suited for longer time frames, while the more intuitive tend to be suited for the shorter time frames. You'll find there are no solid distinctions though. A trend technique, and at the other end of the spectrum, a scalping technique can be applied to any holding period. There are many ways to make money.

The other thing I think is helpful, is just watching the market move and imagining how you may want to exploit price action.

Any books that explain the auction process will be helpful. Study that, and then sit and watch and understand.

Hi Everyone- I heard about this website from another trader that I am involved with. I mainly trade the ES and use the top down approach- love the 60 and 15 minute charts. I do look for strong areas to jump in a counter trend trade but only with confirmation. I have learned to join the trend using APA Zones and reading Price Action. I hope to be able to contribute to this community- for new people this can be a really hard journey and who you meet along the way will make all the difference. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to participate.

Good Morning,

I hope this finds you warm and cozy with a nice big cup of coffee (my other addiction)!

My introduction:

Goal: Daytrade and make a living from trading stock.

Success Rate: 1% (So there's room for improvement!)

I have had some successful trades but more red than black. I am currently working on improving my consistency and stop jumping from indicator to indicator. Also, coming from the engineering field, I thought the mental aspect would be easy to overcome, boy was I wrong.

I am considering myself a beginner because the more I learn, the more it seems I need to learn. Before i even started an account I read many books to learn as much as possible. I thought I had a good base to start, but reality set in when I started with real money. I'm sure most of you can identify.

I saw a cartoon on twitter awhile back with a couple sitting and watching the sun set. She was thinking how beautiful it was while he was thinking about stocks! I can relate.

Have a nice day.

John Downing.

    • Date: 29th March 2024. GBPUSD Analysis: The Pound Trades Higher But For How Long? The global Stocks Markets are closed due to Easter Friday (Good Friday). The NASDAQ continued to follow the sideways trend while other indices again rose. The SNP500 reaches an all-time high, but the NASDAQ remains under pressure from Tesla, Meta and Apple. The Euro continues to trade lower against all major currencies including the US Dollar, Euro and Japanese Yen. The British Pound is the best performing currency during this morning’s Asian session. However, investors are largely fixing their attention on this afternoon’s Core PCE Price Index. GBPUSD – The Pound Trades Higher but For How Long? The GBPUSD is slightly higher than the day’s open and is primary due to the Pound’s strong performance. At the moment, the British Pound is increasing in value against all major currencies. However, the US Dollar Index is also trading 0.10% higher and for this reason there is a slight conflict here. If investors wish to avoid this conflict, the EURUSD is a better option. This is because, the Euro depreciating against the whole currency market avoiding the “tug-of-war” scenario. The GBPUSD is trading slightly lower than the 2-month’s average price and is trading at 49.10 on the RSI. For this reason, the price of the exchange is at a “neutral” level and is signalling neither a buy nor a sell. The day’s price action and future signals are possibly likely to be triggered by this afternoon’s Core PCE Price Index. Analysts expect the Core PCE Price Index to read 0.3% which is slightly lower than the previous month but will result in the annual figure remaining at 2.85%. The PCE rate is different to the inflation rate and the Fed aims for a rate between 1.5% to 2.00%. Therefore, even if the annual rate remains at 2.85%, as analysts expect, it would be too high for the Fed. If the rate increases, even if only slightly, the US Dollar can again renew bullish momentum and the stock market can come under pressure. This includes the SNP500. Investors are focused on the publication of data on the UK’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the last quarter of 2023: the quarterly figures decreased by 0.3%, and 0.2% over the past 12-months. This confirms the state of a shallow recession and the need for stimulation. The data, combined with a cooling labor market and a steady decline in inflation, increase the likelihood that the Bank of England will soon begin interest rate cuts. In the latest meeting the Bank of England representatives did not see any members vote for a hike. USA500 – The SNP500 Rises to New Highs, But Cannot Hold Onto Gains! The price of the SNP500 rises to an all-time high, before correcting 0.33% and ending the day slightly lower than the open price. Nonetheless, the index performs better than the NASDAQ which came under pressure from Tesla, Meta and Apple which hold a higher weight compared to the SNP500. For the SNP500, these 3 stocks hold a weight of 9.25%, whereas the 3 stocks make up 14.63% of the NASDAQ. The SNP500 is also supported by ExxonMobil’s gains due to higher energy prices. The market will remain closed on Friday due to Easter. However, the market will reopen on Monday for the US and investors can expect high volatility. Investors will also need to take into consideration how the PCE Price Index and the changed value of the US Dollar is likely to affect the stock market next week.
