if your computer is running slow...

you might need more memory.

1. call up your Task Manager... and check your memory usage.

Good posts Tams. I particularly recommend checking the Processes tab as there will often be memory-hogs in there which are slowing stuff up and you don't really need (when you are supposed to be concentrating on trading, right?).

Just be careful not to shut any System or other important processes when you're weeding and with a bit of care you'll hopefully make a difference to how smoothly the important things are running... :pc guru:

Ending processes in the task manager is a first step, and a way of identifying potential "problems". But the problem is when you end processes from the task manager, they may start up again the next time you boot into Windows. Once you've identified problem processes, you can stop them from running at startup by going to Start > Run > msconfig. Go to the Startup tab, and uncheck any processes you don't want to run at startup. It also may be worthwhile to go to the "Services" tab and uncheck any unnecessary processes there. Of course, make sure you actually know what you're doing before you keep something from running at startup.

I have installed various Linux systems on my old computers and they run wonderfully. Too bad there is a lack of trading software for these OS.

 Vista crashed while I was writing this the first time LOL.

I saw post, it seems to me of James where he recommended to try TuneUp Utilities

well, I've not programmer, but did a few tweaks of my machine and in constant search for maximum...

so TuneUp Utilities really amazed me !

Try for yourself.
