Forex Options

Recommended Posts

I've noticed these options are very hard to find for a retail trader, and I think this is deliberate to deprive you of several opportunities. I can't think of another reason why options on forex would be so difficult to find on the retail level. If you ever do find a provider, let me know.

I went through this for a few days. I can post whatever I know, please correct if wrong. There are OTC options and exchange traded options. OTC is directly with between parties, I am not aware of how the counterparty risk is managed. Exchange traded is through an exchange, the exchange is the counterparty.

ISE offers the most exchange traded options. I searched high and low and then found them back in my good ol' thinkorswim platform. They are traded through USD denominated products:

FX SUMMARY

You can't trade the underlying, only the options. Looks like they are only traded 10 months in future. The volume & open interest doesn't also seem that impressive.

Forex options give investors another tool which helps to minimize losses and to raise profits, they are extremely popular at periods of economic reporting. But if the currency underrates the loses of a trader they pay the premium for this option.

Hello,

Does anyone trade forex options ? If so can you suggest a good broker ?

Also does anyone know if European style expiry options are avaiable anywhere on FX spot. Thank you in advance for any guidance

Is there are reason you want to trade them over spot instead of the CME FX futures?

http://www.vfmarkets.com/pdfs/euro_fx_options_br.pdf (I've never heard of this broker it's just a google hit, CME brokers would offer them).
