Education the Right Way

Recommended Posts

I agree with Sevensa. Perhaps you might want to start by taking an inventory of "assets" that relate to your chosen field.

For instance, do you have any formal education in finance or in some subject that relates to the markets...Do you have a basic understanding of how markets work.

Do you have any technical skills..for example are you computer literate...do you know how to use a spreadsheet

Once you have completed a mental inventory of your assets and liabilities, you should have some idea of where to start your journey.

Ive had formal education in finance, and at least the graduate diploma that i completed didnt teach me the first thing about how to trade.

Having said, from where im at now, id be uncomfortable approaching the markets without the conceptual background to understand the dimensions of activity that make prices move. Thats just me though.

From what ive read, the only 'trading' book recommended without reservation is Enhancing Trader Performance by Brett Steenbarger.

As previously mentioned, choosing an initial direction to start is a good idea, there are many paths to get started down.
