SPAM Management

Just wondering if the new Admin could put a quick note here on what the best method is to deal with SPAM. My current understanding is that if a spam posting is reported by some specific number of members it is auto deleted but I am not sure about this. Just wanted some clarification so I could follow the best procedure as we get bombarded with penny stock postings.

Re: SPAM Management

Perhaps the new Admin could put the part-time mods on the distro list for reported posts, and enable them to remove spam as warranted.

Also, new users < 10 msgs probably should be restricted from using Private Messages, should not be able to post more than 1 message per hour or day, and also have all their posts placed in "soft moderation" so that only they would see their posts in the forum until released to the public by a mod.

just a thought

Re: SPAM Management

Best bet is to click the Report the Post and we'll get notified. We have 3-4 people now who receive those so typically we are able to get on them if not immediately within an hour or two at most. And we do have the ability to knock out all of the posts in one "mega" delete when someone has just spammed a bunch of crap. Not sure why they do, waste of time and we'll delete them but you guys are our best defense so just let us know with the Report function.

Thanks for the help!
