Weak currencies are generally traded at discount rate in economically developed countries and have poor economic fundamentals like budget deficit, slow economic growth, and high rate of inflation. Weak currency countries have frequent devaluation against major trading partners, balance of payment deficits, or political instability.
  3. Weak Dollar doesn’t always reflects the bad situation, weak dollar usually leads to high exports and low imports and US companies will be able to export more because buying power of foreigners is enhanced. Dollar may weaken because of loose monetary policy and lack of confidence in US Economy.
  4. The Central Bank is unique amongst most of the other G10 economies in that price stability has not been much of an inssue in the last two decades, with consumer inflation averaging less than 1 percent for most of that period. Because of this, the Bank of Japan is less reactive when making interest rate policy than most of its peers and instead places much of its focus in currency values. Bank intervention in the forex market has been a common theme in recent years, and the cantral bank looks to protect regional export companies.
  5. One of the main responsibilities of the Central Bank is to maintain price stability so that consumer inflation and national growth progress at sustainable levels. To do this, the Bank can raise or lower interest rates as one potential approach. The Central Bank is also responsible for selling government treasuries and issuing currency.

  7. The Australian Bureau releases macro economic data that can have a drastic effect of the price activity trends that are seen in the Australian Dollar. Data releases are scheduled for specific times on a monthly quarterly or yearly basis, and many traders base their position strategies based on the strength or weakness of the data that is made public. This information is also vital for the country’s central bank when monetary policy measures are being drafted.
  8. Quite recently there was a very informative piece by Marc Andreesen, the founder of Netscape on the increasing dominance of software - Why Software Is Eating The World . Its a stunning article . And then Steve Jobs and Dennis Richie depart. It is the time of the Tea Party folks and even grimmer Occupy Wall Street and these techie giants seem to have departed when everything around looks so bleak, when they were most needed. But take a look at it from another perspective and things are no longer bleak. The foundation these and other techie giants laid, opens up a whole new world. This is an interview with Carlota Perez, an economist working in the area of Technology among other things on the emerging new opportunities. A very interesting interview. A world of new opportunities, in every sphere is emerging. Even trading, though it is not explicitly stated in the interview below. My query is : In trading what are the contours of the new opportunities?
