  1. Thanks BF. After messing around with my historical data a bit more, I think I have a slightly better grasp of it. In your example though, would GCL be the oil contract in OEC? I'm talking about GC, the gold contract (I think it would be GGC in OEC).
  2. Can someone explain the contract months to me for GC? It seems that right now the front month is the Dec'09 contract, but I've been trying to view some historical charts (Zenfire doesn't have a continuous contract so I have to view historical data for each individual contract month), and I can't figure out which contracts would go with which months' data. For example, looking at data from 8/20/2009 to 8/30/2009, I thought that I would be using the 08/2009 GC contract, but that didn't look right, so I tried the 09/2009...still not right, tried the 10/2009, still not right, until finally I came to the 12/2009 contract, and that looks right. So at the end of August the 12/2009 contract was the front month??? I really wish every CME contract could just follow the 3/6/9/12 schedule of the index e-minis.
  3. What platform are you using? In Ninja if you lose your connection it will actually say "Connection Lost" through your speakers, and the little connection box in the main window will change color.
  4. You too Tams and everyone else, have a good one.
  5. Man, that's incredible. I often think that living in China right now (some parts anyway) would be like living in the "Wild West" in the US, back when it was just being settled.
  6. I thought the very purpose of auto insurance was that if someone hit you, you don't have to pay???
  7. Guys, I need your help. I've never rented an apartment before, and I've been looking into it recently, and I have a question. For example, I was looking at places in NYC, and on several of the realty sites, they mention that you need to show proof of guaranteed annual income that is 40-50x the monthly rent of the place you're looking at, among other things. Now it seems to me that there must be some way around this, since I would think that there are plenty of people in NYC who don't have guaranteed incomes (i.e. they're traders, they rely on bonuses as a big part of their income, they do freelance work, etc.) The only thing I've read about is that you MIGHT be able to get around this rule if you pay several months (I haven't read any specific amount) of rent up front. This just seems like an odd rule to me as a trader, because if I'm absolutely required to show proof of guaranteed income, then I wouldn't be able to rent an apartment at all. Basically what I'm asking is: are there any other strange rules like this that I need to know about, and is there anything unexpected that you have to deal with as a trader when you're renting an apartment? I am planning on contacting a real estate agent, but I still don't know where exactly I'd want to live, so I haven't called anyone yet. Other than that, any tips in general on this topic? Thanks a lot.
  8. bathrobe, if I may ask, what kind of size are you trading on the ES?
  9. I do think it's fraud, but a it's pretty sweet deal if they get away with it.
  10. "I did my searches and haven't found answers so I am asking for help. 1. With TOS demo do you get real time data or is it delayed. Assuming that by "demo", you mean that you've opened an account but haven't funded it...The charts stream in real time but the T&S and Level 2 is delayed, I'm not sure by how much. 2. Are there any restrictions on their demo? I want to test a few studies already written for TOS and don't want to fund right away. In terms of indicators, I don't think there are any restrictions, but if you're talking about indicators you've coded yourself, I'm not sure. 3. Do you get to listen to their squawk box. I interested in hearing Peter Renizcek as I am integrating more market internals in my trading. Not sure. 4. The reason I don't just download without asking is it take time to learn a new platform. It's very easy to use, it won't take long to learn. But keep in mind that it isn't nearly as flexible or powerful as the "real" platforms that are popular on this forum. I appreciate the constructive feedback. TIA Dan"

  12. Wow, very interesting to see such uniformity there...Thanks again for this great work you've been sharing.

  14. Ninja has a sub-forum on this very site...there would be value in having multiple places for programmers to offer their services.
  15. Ok, I didn't know about the automation, I guess that explains it then. In that case, I'm not sure which platforms would support what you need.
  16. Escrow services...I didn't think about that. I've never used an escrow service before, but I know their purpose, and it seems like that would solve a big problem and deter some impostors.
  17. I know you know way more about CQG than I do, given that I've never even used it before, but they do say they support OCO on their website...I'm just curious now, since it's right there on their website. It also could be that we're talking about completely different things, since I don't know much about automated trading which seems to be the topic of discussion right now. I don't know what you think about Ninja, but I use OCO usually multiple times per day with Ninja on Globex, and I have no complaints about that part of the platform. Though I'm not sure what data feed you'd have access to there that would work with Ninja. CQG Order Types Edit: I also just noticed that CQG lists the bid/ask size trigger that you mentioned:
  18. I would think there are a lot more platforms besides TWS that offer OCO. Off the top of my head, the only ones that I know of are Ninja, CQG, and X Trader (you have to use some kind of plugin with X Trader though I think).
  19. This is a good idea James, however, I think that it could lead to more problems than it solves. What's to stop a bunch of scammers from advertising their services here (as they already try to do)? If someone spends enough time here, they'll be able to tell who the programmers are, and they can just inquire directly via PM. I am still open to the idea though.

  22. As BF mentioned, Snag It is a great program. You might also want to check out QuickShot, which can be downloaded free from Image Shack (it takes screenshots and uploads them to your Image Shack account, then provides a link to the image so you can easily add it to a forum post), and also instead of using a program, you can just use Ctrl+Print Screen and then paste the image into good software such as Paint.NET (free), the Gimp (free), or Photoshop. You will have good results doing that.
  23. I've never seen anyone run a forum even close to as well as you run this one James. You should be proud.
