How does Investor/RT assign the timestamp of any given bar? Is it based on its OPENING or its CLOSING?

For example, Tradestation uses the closing time of the bar for the timestamp. Open E Cry used to use the opening time but recently changed for unknown reasons to the closing time in version 3.2.0.3 of its OEC charting software.

Please advise and thanks.

Investor/RT stamps tick-based periodicities (tickbars, volume bars, range bars, etc) with the time of the last tick that created the bar. Time-based periodicities (minute and second bars) are stamped with the ending time of each bar's period. So essentially, bars are stamped with the time they end. I'm sure we could argue both sides (and I have more than I'd like to), but this has always worked well for us. The few that have complained (because they were accustomed to stamping with the starting time) have quickly adapted and become comfortable with this method.

does anyone know a trading platform where i can use tick bars instead of bars by time I do not think it is offered by metatrader 4

It would probably would be a lot easier to list those that don't offer tick bars. It would likely be a short list as most packages do.
