Song Of The Day

I rarely get a chance to hear decent music any more so I thought it would be good to have a thread that we can share songs that people might have missed whilst doing other things.

My track for today is Lake Of Shadows - Moving Hearts. It's been around for a while but it is new to me:

There is some talking at the start - the song starts 1:17 into this video. I think this is a breathtakingly beautiful song, but I played it to my wife and it did nothing for her - oh well I guess music is a very personal thing!

Re: Song Of The Day

Ah yes - nice music indeed.

Jake will be a good player when he gets older ... lol!
That is seriously excellent playing skill - best I have seen ... thanks Mystic.

My high school years were in the late 1960's and so I was fortunate to imprint the best music of the 20th century! (Along with the EType Jag, the Ford Mustang, the Monaro, GTHO Falcon, and ... mini-skirts, Colour TV, Transistor Radios ... Bell bottomed trousers, Paisley shirts, pointy-toe shoes ... * )

But this song came along later, and unfortunately I only discovered Dan Fogelberg's music when he passed away prematurely in December 2007.

Enjoy one of his best! This song will touch you.

Ingot54,

You date yourself. We must be about the same age.
Dan Fogelberg was very cool.

I was never into Country, but I didn't realise how much I liked Johnny Cash untill he passed away.

The earlier Johnny Cash appealed to me more than his later stuff, though his music increased in popularity in other quarters. Yet I could not watch that video without everything about the man coming back - Man in Black, Folsom Prison, The Reverend Mr Black, and The Wreck of the Old 97 to name a few ...

My main thing has always been 'ballad-type" songs, and as this style only appeals to a few, I won't bore you with some of the stuff in my head!

So for today, we can take a trip back to nostalgia-town again, with Simon and Garfunkel ... classic stuff. There were live recordings of this available, but I decided to sacrifice the video content in favor of the pure musical treasure and delight that the original song is.

Best appreciated with good headphones this time.

Re: Song Of The Day

This is turning into a trip down memory lane.

I saw Simon and Garfunkel Live in Central Park early 70s.
They finished with "Sounds of Silence" done A Cappella.

Man - what a privilege that would have been - I could write on the edge of a postage stamp the number of 'big name' artists I have seen live.

Here in Australia we had a late start on the rest of the world - today we can get the good ones to Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide ... and maybe another capital city or two, but some never make it to 'down under'.

This featured artist today toured Oz in 1973 with his 4 brothers - the first Black Group to ever tour here from overseas. Yes, it was The Jackson 5 and although Michael was planning to include Australia in his "This is It" world tour in 2009, he never got to begin the tour.

History records he died on 25th June 2009 - three weeks before due to commence his series of 50 concerts, starting from London.

The most memorable song for me was this one - and if you are a fan, you will have noticed as he got older, so did the strength of his voice. When choosing the version today, I noted some stronger vocals from him with this song, but the one I think I want to remember him most by, is the youthful version below.
