Emotional Intelligence: 10th Anniversary Edition; Why It Can Matter More Than IQ
Now, this is not a trading book, but it talks about how the mind works and why it does what it does under certain conditions, namely stress, frustration and all those other wonderful emotions we all go through.
It talks about why and how we act on impulse.
Not only will this book help you monitor yourself while in a trade or about to get into a trade, it'll also open your eyes up to being a better person in general, it'll help you with all aspects of life since money is not...

Technical Analysis of Stock Trends, 8th Edition
After long search for the Holy Grail, going from one indicator to another, I was recommended this book. Along with it was a mentor who guided me by answering all the doubts, vagues ideas, hidden messages, and real life action of these ideas in real trading real time. But this book is the foundation of my method today.
Nothing new really, everyone uses it or at least talk about it. But one secret is reading it over and over to get to truly understand the authors' detailed...

Mastering The Trade by John F. Carter
Another great book written by a true trader. I have checked out John and Hubert's trading class in the past and I found it to be one of the best places to learn. The insight and education you will receive in this book is priceless. Although John discusses trading setups that require the use of his custom indicators, the chapters on gaps, pivots, and market internals are well worth the price.
In my opinion, the best chapter in the book talks about the use of market internals to judge...

This book opened up the channel of communication between our demons and the trader we want to be. Positive self-talk is what I learned to stay focus, calm and unemotional. Most people can't even hear their self-defeating talk or hear their head...

Steidlmayer on Markets: Trading with Market Profile
Steidlmayer is a genious. This comprehensive book on market profile is one of my all-time favorite trading books. For those new to market profile, I do recommend reading Dalton's, Mind Over Markets first as it goes into detail on various profile types.
However, Steidlmayer brings alot of good insights that can help the new and seasoned trader. It is recommended that you have a basic understanding of market profile before reading this book.
"Participating in the markets can...

Pairs Trading: Quantitative Methods and Analysis
by Ganapathy Vidyamurthy.
I just ordered this book the other day after having read a pdf version for about a month.
While even after having read alot of this I would not want to get into pairs trading this is an excellent introduction to the "quant" side of trading. In some sense this could be titled "Statistical Arbitrage for Dummies" or "Financial Time Series Analysis for Dummies". While to be useful one would have to understand rather heavy math/stats, this...
